We've gotten several fanarts and I've been doing various behind the scenes coding and such, but currently, I'm still figuring stuff out. How will Jag deal with it? Review: The story was well-written. It went back and forth between the events after Jaina’s funeral and the events leading up to it, which were told in Jag’s POV. The story handled Jag’s emotions at losing his fiancée and unborn daughter very well. The twist with the grief councilor whom I loved to hate was done very well, and there was a nice surprise cliffie at the end. Very well done! Reviewer: NYCitygurl Interview with Jaina_Solo_15 When did you get bitten by the Star Wars bug? The first time that I saw Star Wars, I was probably about four or five years old and Jabba the Hutt terrified me. I actually wasn't a big fan of Star Wars at that point. When I was about eight, my mom had a dresser fall on her head as she was walking down a flight of stairs. She had to go to the hospital to have a few stitches for it, so to distract me one of her friends took me to their house and plopped me down in front of Return of the Jedi. That was the moment that I was hooked. The Jedi fascinated me. Even at eight years old there was so much more about the Jedi that I wanted to know. What all could they do? How did lightsabers work? And who was that Darth Vader fellow? It took me several more years before I got to see the rest of the OT or find the EU novels, but I eventually found all of them and was hooked that much more. And what specifically drew you to writing fanfic? Frustration. Back when I first started reading Star Wars fan fiction, Luke and Mara were the couple and the thing to write about in Star Wars fan fiction. This worked well for me, because I was crazy about L/M. However, what I really wanted was a story with my two favorite characters, Mara Jade and Jaina Solo. After much searching, I couldn't find any fics like what I wanted, so I blithely decided to write my own. It was a pretty bad little ficlet, but it definitely got me hooked on writing fan fiction. After that I just kept being bombarded by plot bunnies, and I couldn't quit writing. Why Jaina and Jag? Jaina is probably my favorite character. And I really liked the dynamics between her and Jag. I think that I was really hooked on them the moment that I read that line in Dark Tide II: Ruin when Jaina realizes that she was attracted to him. There relationship was not typical, expected or without complications. Both had preconceptions about the other that they had to get over while they were both very attracted to one another. I think that it made for an awesome dynamic between them. Also, Jaina, when she is being written well by the proffessional authors, is a very cool female character. She can fight her own battles and take care of her own problems, but she still needs and values Jag's emotional support. And he has a lot to learn from her too. Plus, I just have a thing for hot, grim fighter pilots. In the 2004 SFFA your Many Faces of the Force won Best Underrated. Tell us about that story and why it’s special to you. Many Faces of the Force started as a plot bunny that I'd had about what would happen if Callista returned after Luke and Mara were married and they'd had Ben. Being me, I got a bit sidetracked into the whole Jaina/Jag side of things. I was also thinking about the nature of the Force and how Callista was like the Vong in that she couldn't be sensed through the Force. So, I thought that maybe if Callista or the Vong couldn't be sensed by the Jedi, maybe Callista could sense the Vong? The idea really grew from there. Many Faces of the Force was very different in the end from where I had pictured it in the beginning. Callista ended up being an important part of the story, but not the important part. I think it's really special too me because I spent so much time with it. It's the longest story that I've ever written and it took me a little over a year to finish it. Many Faces of the Force also has some scenes in it that are my favorites. I'm very proud of how they and the story as a whole turned out. It's also special to me because of the readers that I had with me through that story. I just had a small handful of very dedicated readers and they were great. I felt like I really got to know them and I had a lot of fun with them and reading their feedback. Dark Sword is your current work in progress. Can you give the J/J fans a little insight into this tale? Maybe a sneak peak of things to come? Actually my current work in progress is a story called Guarding Who?!. I've kind of put Dark Sword on hiatus for a little while for various reasons involving Darth Real Life. But I do plan to continue Dark Sword eventually. Actually Dark Sword is one of the fics that I've had the most fun writing. It's pretty different from anything else that I've written. Basically it's a reversal of what happened in Star By Star. Instead of Jacen being captured by Vergere, it's Jaina that's captured and taken to the Vong. I don't want to give it all away, but I can say that it is going to be a very dark story. Jaina is going to continue down the Dark path and she will be shaped by her time with the Yuuzhan Vong. But at the same time, I think Jaina's a lot like Anakin Skywalker, so maybe what she's gonna be doing in this fic won't be the right thing, but maybe she'll be trying to do what she thinks is best in her own way. And this will definitely be a Jaina and Jag story. You also write A/P. How is that different from J/J? Do you have a favorite pairing? To me writing Anakin/Padme has a totally different feeling than writing about Jaina and Jag. A/P always has such a sense of destiny behind it that there's always a little bit of pain and foreshadowing in whatever happens. We know how that's gonna turn out and we know that it's not gonna be pretty, so everything is always a little bit bittersweet. And I really like that. I like the depth of that relationship. To me writing Jaina and Jag is a lot more fun and a lot less angst filled. I think of those two foremost as pilots and that's a lot of fun to get into too. They also have a lot of trouble that they can get into together and that makes them very fun to write about, in my opinion. Actually my favorite pairing has to be Luke and Mara. I'm just not very good at writing about them. How about a fun bit of trivia your readers might not know about you or your stories? The first long, full length story that I ever wrote was actually a Star Trek: Voyager story rather than Star Wars. Lastly, where do you see Jaina and Jag going forward in canon? And what advice would you like to give to the writers of the Legacy of the Force series? Well, I was kind of hoping that might eventually get married and have a few kids with some cool adventures thrown in there. Please don't mess it up, would be what I would say to the authors of the Legacy of the Force series. Jaina and Jag, I think, had a very good relationship going and I didn't really like what was done with them in Joiner King.
