	Resource Ben Skywalker Born: 26.5 ABY Birth Place: Errant Venture Hair: Red Eye: Blue Height: Growing Weapon: Lightsaber (Blue) Vehicle: N/A Affiliation: Galactic Alliance: Jedi Masters: Jacen Solo (unofficially) Luke Skywalker Biography: Warning:Spoilers through Legacy of the Force: Fury This was the name given to the son of Luke Skywalker and his wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, born shortly after the Battle of Duro. Named to honor the memory of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ben was born aboard the converted Star Destroyer Errant Venture, during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. He was separated from his parents shortly afterward, both to protect him and allow them to fight against the alien invaders. Ben was taken in by his aunt and uncle, Leia Organa Solo and her husband, Han, and brought up on Coruscant. When the Yuuzhan Vong launched their attack on Coruscant, Ben was in Leia's custody as the Solo family made its way to the Millennium Falcon. However, the intervention of Viqi Shesh forced Leia to turn Ben over to C-3PO, who was whisked aboard the Byrt instead of remaining with the Solos. Ben was then kept in several secure locations for the rest of the war against the Yuuzhan Vong, and Mara feared that this period of separation from his parents led to severe anxiety in young Ben. She found it increasingly difficult to locate him through the Force, and both Mara and Luke realized that Ben had started equating the use of the Force to the warfare and bloodshed of the conflict. Thus, despite having an exceptionally strong connection to the Force, Ben unconsciously shut it off. He didn't want to touch the Force, for fear that it might bring more bad things into his life. With the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong, Luke and Mara resolved to spend more time with Ben, but the rigors of leading the new Jedi order continued to keep them apart. Luke and Mara acquired a Defender Droid to keep watch over Ben, but he found Nanna's presence infuriating. In several conversations, Ben admitted that he wanted to be more like his uncle, Han Solo: working on his own and doing things the hard way. During the initial stages of the conflict with the Colony, Ben unknowingly befriended the first assassin bugs of the Gorog hive, unaware that he was putting his mother in danger. His relationship with the assassin bugs gave him a connection to the Gorog hive, although he was not considered as fully immersed as a true Joiner. It was during this time that Luke and Mara discovered that Ben opened up more whenever he was around his cousin, Jacen Solo, and asked Jacen to take Ben under his wing. Jacen agreed, but was careful not to call Ben an apprentice, since the youth continued to ignore the callings of the Force. However, over time, Ben began to tentatively touch the Force, and his connection was strengthened with Jacen's help. As a Padawan, Ben adopted the ancient tradition of growing a single braid of hair to indicate his status, despite the fact that this was not required by the modern Jedi Order. He displayed an uncanny ability to remember things that he had seen or heard with incredible accuracy. It was not long before the raw power that was within Ben often bubbled to the surface, as when Jacen traveled to Hapes to see Tenel Ka. They found themselves in the midst of a Gorog assassination attempt on the lifes of Tenel Ka's infant daughter - of which Jacen was the father. His connection to the Gorog became evident when he was able to accurately locate the killer bugs in the ceiling and hidden escape tunnels, which helped them escape from the Gorog and confront Ta'a Chume. Ben's connection to the Gorog was not as deep as that of Jacen's sister, Jaina, which prevented him from becoming a true Joiner. In the wake of the struggle against UnuThul and the Colony, Ben continued to train as a Jedi under Jacen's tutelage. When he was thirteen, he accompanied Jacen on an investigation of the Dammant Killers weapons plant on Adumar, where they discovered illegal weaponry being produced for entities outside the Galactic Alliance. They were then dispatched to Centerpoint Station, on a mission to disable the station before Thrackan Sal-Solo could re-initiatize it and use it as a weapon. However, they were forced to split up when Jacen was captured by Sal-Solo, and Ben set out to complete the mission on his own. Ben discovered the unusual droid that had been programmed to "become" Anakin Solo, and convinced it to shut itself down before it was used as a weapon. Ben later accompanied Jacen to Lorrd, during the investigation into the death of Siron Tawaler. It was Ben who was able to locate a shuttle that had fled Toryaz Station in the wake of Tawaler's murder, while Jacen was busy with Nelani Dinn. Upon returning to Coruscant, Ben became aware that he was no longer a kid, especially when he came to the realization that much of the growing conflict between Corellians and the Galactic Alliance was rooted in the disabling of Centerpoint Station. As terrorists both supporting and opposing Corellian independence caused violence on Coruscant, Ben understood that he needed to act, if only to ease his mind that it wasn't all his fault. Thus, when Jacen Solo was named the head of the Galactic Alliance Guard, Ben was more than happy to take on a role within the GAG himself. His perspective was skewed, however, when he befriended Barit Saiy, a youth who was Corellian by birth, but was a native of Coruscant. Ben was shocked when he saw Barit draw a blaster in an attempt to kill an officer of the Coruscant Security Force, and used the Force to deflect the shot. This event forced Ben to choose between a potential friendship and his duty to the Galactic Alliance. In the end, Ben provided the location of the Saiy family's workshop to Jacen, which allowed the police to arrest Barit and his family as dissident. Barit swiftly denounced Ben and his assocation with the Galactic Alliance, leaving Ben with a hollow sense of purpose that only worsened when Jacen Solo tried to use the Force to interrogate Ailyn Habuur, only to have her die before revealing any information. While Ben understood the need to learn everything they could from Habuur, he failed to see how Jacen's use of the Force could be considered a reasonable way to obtain it. The continued growth of Ben's powers and his responsibilities within the GAG worried his parents, who feared that Ben was falling onto the same path to the Dark Side that Jacen was. In an effort to assess his son, Luke ordered him to return to the Jedi Temple and meet him in combat in the Sparring Arena. Both of Ben's parents were aware that separating Ben from Jacen would be troublesome, but needed to know where their son stood. When Jacen realized that there was a plot to assassinate Tenel Ka, Ben accompanied him to the Hapes Cluster aboard the Anakin Solo. While Jacen attended to the needs of Tenel Ka and her daughter, Allana, Ben was dispatched with the crew of the recon skiff Rover to Terephon, where they recovered Jaina Solo and Zekk. The two Jedi told of being attackjed by the Ducha Galney, who was willing to destroy her own family estate in an attempt to kill the Jedi. The group then raced back to Hapes with the knowledge of Ducha Galney's treachery, only to find themselves in the middle of the space battle between the Hapan Royal Navy and the Heritage Fleet. They managed to get a warning off to the Fountain Palace of the plot, but it required that the Rover fly into the battle. Ben was dismayed when the ship's crew agreed to remain onboard, even if it meant they would be shot down and killed. The group of evacuees was rescued by Han and Leia Solo aboard the Millennium Falcon, and Ben was forced to place the Solos under arrest, as he believed them to be Corellian insurgents. He drew his lightsaber on Jaina Solo when she tried to help repair the ship, accusing her of conspiring with them. Zekk tried to stop Ben from being foolish, and the younger man lashed out with his lightsaber, burning a slash down Zekk's side. The confusion left Ben even more bewildered, unsure of how he was to gauge the loyalty of those closest to him. In the wake of the Hapan action, Ben was given a secret assignment by Jacen: to recover the Amulet of Kalara. He found himself alone on the mission, stranded in the Drewwa Spaceport, without any credits. In order to survive, Ben discovered how easy it was to steal another being's credcards, a fact that only bothered him until he rationalized it in his own mind. His mind only became more confused when he tracked Faskus to Ziost, and he had to take in Faskus' daughter Kiara in order to complete the mission. The energy of the Force that was found on Ziost kept urging him to eat the young girl in order to maintain his strength, an action that repulsed him as much as it made sense to him. Ben fought through these feelings of confusion and dread, and eventually rescued himself and Kiara by locating a strange starship. The ship could only be controlled through the Force, and was recognized as a Sith artifact when he returned it to Jacen. Although he knew that he had done what was required to complete the mission, Ben questioned the need for the mission, especially since it had cost Faskus his life and orphaned Kiara. His feelings about the mission concerned Lumiya, who questioned Ben's suitability as Jacen's apprentice. Ben himself knew that he was maturing, and went so far as to explain to his father that he was too far advanced to simply return to the life of a "normal" Padawan. He found that he was more right than he knew when Jacen suggested that Ben lead the mission to assassinate the Corellian Prime Minister, Dur Gejjen. He traveled to Vulpter with Jori LeKauf and Lon Shevu, and was in position when Gejjen left his meeting with Cal Omas. Following his orders, Ben shot Gejjen in the head, killing the man instantly. Security agents flooded in, forcing LeKauf to sacrifice his own life to ensure that Ben and Shevu could escape. LeKauf's death shook Ben greatly, since the two had become good friends. He felt that he couldn't return to either Jacen's residence or that of his parents, and Shevu graciously offered to let Ben stay at his apartment for a couple of days. Ben tried to reconcile his conscience, but found that the only way to get past himself was to explain his actions to his mother. He met Mara in a tapcaf on Coruscant, and explained the whole thing. Although he was surprised that his mother didn't visibly react, Ben knew that she was angrier than she had ever been with Jacen Solo. Ben's own feelings toward Jacen changed forever when he overheard Jacen talking to Lumiya, and he realized that Jacen had been lying to him all along. Thus, when Jacen set out on a secret trip to Hapes, Ben decided to follow him and see what was happening. He found Jacen locked in a starfighter duel with his own mother, and with Lumiya helping to force Mara's StealthX fighter to ground on Kavan. Ben managed to make contact the Sith Meditation Sphere that Lumiya was flying, and forced it to ignore her commands. He then tried to locate his mother, and was utterly shocked when he felt her death in a wave of Force energy. His sudden emotion allowed Lumiya to escape, but Ben had little concern for her. He tracked his mother's presence to Kavan, where he discovered her body in a storm tunnel. Ben was both surprised and concerned when Jacen suddenly appeared, offering comfort and a pledge to track down Mara's killer. They brought Mara's body back to Ben's father, who believed that it had been Lumiya who killed her. Luke, who had killed Lumiya in order to avenge Mara, realized that it couldn't have been Lumiya who killed Mara after Ben explained that he had been holding Lumiya hostage when he felt Mara's death. It was shortly after this that Ben came to believe that his own cousin, Jacen Solo, had been responsible for his mother's death. He chose to confront Jacen with this information, before allowing himself to "accept" Jacen's alibis in order to stay close to Jacen and gather more evidence against him. Unfortunately, Jacen's story implicated the former Chief of State, Cal Omas, in Mara's death. Ben decided to confront Omas, in order to gain back Jacen's trust. He did not want to kill Omas, however, since he was convinced of Jacen's guilt. Omas, however, knew that Jacen would need to see evidence of his demise, and sacrificed himself so that it would look like Ben killed him. Ben then returned to Jacen's side, aboard the Anakin Solo, and bided his time. He tried to attack Jacen during the assault on Kashyyyk, but only succeeded in killing Commander Twizzl. However, this attack gave Jacen - who had become secretly Darth Caedus - reason to believe that Ben might still become a Sith. Ben, for his own part, played the role of a student perfectly, although he controlled his hatred of Jacen and used it to focus on exposing the truth about his cousin. He was unprepared when Jacen placed him in the Embrace of Pain aboard the Anakin Solo, but Ben fought through it until he found an unexpected ally. His own father, Luke, had infiltrated the Star Destroyer to confront Jacen, and drove Jacen to the ground before freeing Ben. Ben demanded to be the one to kill Jacen, but Luke refused to allow him to succumb to the desire to avenge his mother. This brief discussion gave Jacen a chance to recover, but Ben plunged his mother's vibroblade into Jacen's back before he could attack Luke. They left Jacen to die, and set out to escape from the ship. Ben was later officially taken as his father's apprentice. He accompanied his father to Endor, where the Jedi Order were setting up their base until Jacen was out of power. During a training exercise with Luke, he noticed his father was in a near-suicidal state due to everything that had recently occurred, and was able to talk his father out of it. Luke, very impressed by this, told Ben that he was ready to build his own lightsaber. After hearing Jacen had kidnapped Allana to blackmail Tenel Ka into supporting him again, Ben accompanied his father on the mission to the Anakin Solo. He helped Luke and Master Saba Sebatyne distract Jacen while Allana was rescued. He later revealed to Leia and Jaina that he did not believe Alema killed his mother. 	Challenge Index Halloween Challenge Okay. For the Halloween challenge. You have to write a story with Ben and werewolves. Ben can be a werewolf, he can track down werewolves, anything as long as it has Ben and werewolves. Be as creative as you like. Requirements: Need a Star Wars werewolf lore. And the phrase, "Hairy situation." (No submissions) Be the first to write a response for this challenge! August Challenge: Okay write a vignette with Ben and his children. That status of his wife is up to you, it can be anyone. There is one major requisite, no twins and Ben must have at least three children. Other then that have fun. Oh for added bonus add Grandpa Luke. STORE WARS by Silsolo July Challenge We're all reeling from the horrors Sacrifice wrought, and the death it revealed. But none of us, perhaps, so much as Ben Skywalker. Once it fully sinks in, how does Ben carry on? How does he go about normal life? The challenge is to write Ben soon after Mara's death. Must include: Han & Leia Must include the words: bland tomfoolery omission Almost by VaderLVR64 April Challenge Have Ben and a girl of your choosing, switch bodies for a day. There are no restrictions, just have fun. (No submissions) Be the first to write a response for this challenge! January Challenge Take a non-Star Wars book and write down the first line on every ten pages (pg 10, 20, 30...) until you reach 10 lines. Then write a drabble based on each one. (It doesn't have to be exacly 100 words... just keep it very short.) Try not to use the line in the context that the book uses.... give it your own! Now if some of the first lines wouldn't work due things that don't apply to the SW universe you can move on to the next line on that page that does work. For example on pg 10 of The Killer Angels the line is Sorrel started to say something, but he knew that you did not argue with Longstreet. This has names of people that don't apply in the SW universe so you would move on to the next line that would apply. Also if there is a line that isn't inspiring in the least (Ex: pg 30 of The Gun Seller I turned and looked at him.) then you could move on to the next one. Use your best judgement as to when you would need to move on to another line, but don't move on just because you don't like it, it wouldn't be a challenge if you did! For bonus points try to make all you drabbles fit into one big drabble story. Make sure to include what book you used, its author and before each drabble the line that was used. What happens when years later father and son are at odds over Luke's new wife? JediMaster_Jen Future-fic: Ben has spent the past thirteen years learning about the Force from his cousin Jacen. Now, at just twenty-one years old, Ben must challenge his teacher after Jacen embraces the dark side. At stake--galactic peace, the Jedi Order, and most importantly.......Jacen Solo's soul. SilSolo Ben goes over to teh dark side and collaborates with Allana to create a Sith/Hapan Empire. When Allana's cousin, the second Anakin Solo, refuses to go along with teh plot, Ben chops of the rebel's hands in a duel and turns the last Solo over to his side. It takes ten years to establish teh Skywalker/Solo/Djo dynasty and in the meantime, Ben is faced with teh difficult task of raising his two daughters to be the assassins their grandmother once was and at teh same time train one of them to take his place. JediMaster_Jen These bunnies are running rampant in my head. I just have to let them out. Anyway, I was writing a Ben fic while watching The Phantom Menace and it came to me: Ben gets thrown into the past and meets Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi and of course, his future grandparents, Anakin and Padme. Telling them he is a Corellian Jedi, and calling himself Ben Solo, he accompanies the group back to Naboo to battle the forces of the Trade Federation, and Darth Maul. Rather than just Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon fighting Maul, Ben is there as well. Between the three of them, Maul is defeated, with Ben striking the killing blow, and Qui-Gon survives to train Anakin. Right after Ben kills Maul, he mysteriously disappears. Unknown to the others, the Force has sent Ben back to his own time, believing that it has succeeded in changing Anakin's ultimate destiny by having Qui-Gon survive to train him. But was it enough? When events unfold the same as before, the Force once again sends Ben back in time, this time to the Jedi Temple where he intercepts Anakin as he's leaving to follow Mace Windu to the Chancellor's office. Unsuccessful in getting Anakin to stay behind, Ben goes with his grandfather, hoping to be the voice of reason when Anakin must make his ultimate choice. In the end, Ben succeeds in keeping Anakin from choosing the darkness by revealing to him that he is his grandson, the son of the child Padme carries within her. Palpatine launches an attack at Ben, and acting on instinct, Anakin leaps to the defense of his grandson, ultimately slaying Palpatine and fulfilling the prophesy and lifting the veil of the dark side. But Anakin's success means dire consequences for Ben Skywalker. After meeting his grandmother, he and Anakin are talking when Ben once again simply vanishes. Only this time, he hasn't gone back to his own time period---he's become non-existant. By changing the past, Ben has eliminated his own future. But he's left a blank canvas for his grandparents with which to carve their future--with their twin children.
