Did I not meet the specifications?
If you pmed the sock you should have been in. Still it keeps happening that people just link their stories in the thread and forget about the sock....
Since I'm usually the one to preach in here and felt it might be going over the top doing it again this time, I kept my mouth shut.

Oh, I love associating songs with OC's!
I'm on an Elmira hiatus due to reasons I won't share, but I have so many songs that relate to various points in her GFFA life and non-GFFA life.
"Oedipus" by Regina Spektor is her relationship with her biological mother, Commander Ufanwe Val. It's a rocky relationship.
"The Walk" by Imogen Heap is the meeting unexpected admirer song.
"Joga" by Bjork is the planetary landing song.
"The Time Has Come" is the kiss-off/organ removal song, for those days where immigrant babies are not welcome
"Thirty Whacks" and "My Alchoholic Friends" by the Dresden Dolls are the self-doubt songs (hint hint, do you detect a pattern?)
"Ampersand" by Amanda Palmer is the avoiding stalker on city-planet song.
"Nothing Without You" is the stranded Yuuzhan illegal immigrant/spy song.
"I've Seen It All" by Bjork is the sorrow over boyfriend getting killed by a speeding motorboat song.
Not going to mention any Evanescence songs, hint hint.
Ufanwe Val, planetary coordinator of the Jogaan settlement, has "Swallow" by Emilie Autumn as her theme song. She's not the queen of the Scapes Contortium (a play on Hapes Consortium) but she has that vibe.
Voh'nn Seinheild has many theme songs. Mainly, it's the entirety of Speak for Yourself by Imogen Heap and most of Britney Spears' singles. "Baby One More Time" outlines his masochism. "Provanity" by Amanda Palmer is the teenage angst song. "Oh Comely" by Neutral Milk Hotel is the dead mama song. "Two-Headed Boy, Part two" is the childhood song. Include "White Houses" by Vanessa Carlton.
Skande Ahll Seinheild has "Pretty In Pink".
"Margarita" (Grievous wife number 1) has "The Astronaut" by Amanda Palmer as her theme song. I envision her as a Kaleesh CEO much like Obadiah Stane from Iron Man, only female. She would be married to Iron Sheelal. I can send you an amazing live version with cello; a fan taped it (and the Dolls are perfectly okay with live recordings of their songs being shared).
Oooh, voting! I better be sweet and read everyone's entries.

Oh heck yes, and we're glad to be there again! Thanks for the nod... the database addition to the first book looks great.
And because I'm a faithful reader and big fan, I'd like to point again to Thumper's The Way. If you haven't checked it out, you're missing a super awesome read! Great story to promote for the Story of the Month. Everyone, get yer booties over there.

Luton_Plunder posted: If anyone perchance follows that youtube link, please ignore the fact that the flim clip is composed entirely of a man and a cat falling off a building. I dont get it either
So that's not symbolic with the falling cat representing Taban (the Love Cat), is it?
Everyone's got some very cool music for their OCs. Y'all made me spend time on YouTube, which I hardly ever do.
I love doing the Music Thang with writing and stories and characters. I've got pretty many songs in my story soundtracks, so I'll only mention a few biggies here.
Main Character theme songs:
Darin - "Not a Day Goes By" by Lonestar. The song says it all.
Quiver - "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" by Kenny Chesney. (Ignore the voiceover at the beginning of the video.) It fits his personality extremely well.
CC - "Suds in the Bucket" by Sara Evans. This is a fun-loving, rambunctious song for what I consider to be a fun-loving, rambunctious character. (I love the word "rambunctious".)
I've been trying to find a theme song for Chase. I've found a lot that are close (especially "I Won't Let You Down" by Keith Urban), but none that are blow-me-away perfect. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, though, since I did find a blow-me-away perfect song for the overall story of "The Way". I haven't posted this in the story thread yet, but it's "It's Not My Time" by 3 Doors Down.
I also have a smattering of other songs for general writing stuff, even a writer's block song called "Blank Sheet of Paper" by Tim McGraw.
Thanks very much for the SOTM nod! And thanks a bunch for the compliments, Trika and LP.

Music in fanfic? Oh ho, you're looking at someone who has made a hobby out of building playlists (to the point that I sometimes create playlists based on songs I only have in small numbers, and then I go out and acquire more songs to fill out the playlist. You should see my silly foreign language music collection!).
Anyway, I have playlists for each installment of Blue Side, some of which are more complete than others. I've drawn my instrumental music from Star Wars (but of course), .hack//SIGN, Iron Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the Myst soundtracks, as well as a few classical pieces that fit the mood. Oh yeah, and a few tracks from the KOTOR soundtrack, painstakingly extracted and converted from the audio files.
As for characters, I have the following:
Leiraya Moran- Trois Navires De Ble by Great Big Sea. This song is nigh impossible to find on YouTube, and my webspace is being dumb. But I will attempt to get this song up somewhere you can listen to it. The song fits her personality mostly because of the musicality- the lyrics are French, and I don't know much in the way of French. I checked a translation, and it's basically a folk song, and there's a lot of playing by the water on an island. Which fits well enough, but the feel of the song just fits her perfectly. It's a 'dancing barefoot in the grass' sort of song.
Leiraya/Kylan- How to Save a Life by The Fray. Possibly overused, but I don't really listen to the radio at all, so I'm not assaulted by it too often. I just found some emotastic fan videos using the song, and it works for them on a lot of levels.
Skye Darre: So far the song I have for her is Code Monkey. I feel like I can do better for her, though, so I'll have to scour my music collection. I haven't come up with anything perfect for her sister yet, either. So, since I'm on vacation, guess what I'm going to be doing?
Hmm. Most of my other painstakingly chosen theme songs are for canon characters. Which is too bad, because I've got some really awesome ones in there.

Random Note: The Red Right Hand as mentioned by Milton in Paradise lost is actually referring to agents of God (probably Jesus who sits to his right) in that context. (Book II l. 174) </nerd end>

Oh, I forgot in my last post to include these characters:
Grizhabel'd doesn't have songs at the moment that describe her life, but she would sing these.
Zorn, Die Zwolf Verbotenen Tone by E Nomine was the song that inspired me to draw the initial concept for a Yuuzhan Vong metal singer.
Ever Dream by Nightwish was also one of these preliminary songs. Don't mind the comments below the video :P
Mufinlaf's (unintroduced sister to Elmira) theme song is Better by Regina Spektor.

Now I had almost forgotten Sinar. Poor boy. But that's what you get for being a madman in an institution. I didn't intend him to play any big role and certainly didn't go looking for a song for him but Space Invaders from The Deep Eynde is just his perfect song. A bit hectic, silly and rather mad.

Haha, well I am so very comforted by the idea that I'm not the only one that obsessively sits down and maps out a bunch of music for my OCs Though I will say that I am very impressed with Thumper's 'writer's block' song. I'm going to try and develop one of those myself The closest I have is a desktop background that says 'Do your work. Don't be stupid.'

... Kecen, I don't think I've ever heard of a character that is immediately more terrifying yet more awesome than this concept I suppose it's much more likely than a Yuuzhan Vong pop princess, huh

Choosing songs for canon characters, DWH? Next you'll be picking out clothes for them and everything. Tut tut!

There was a song that I thought of when the Gentlemen's Writing Guild came up with the Fast Cars, Fast Women challenge that inspired the Sloan Hurst character: Queen's I'm in Love With My Car.
Having the Queen mind-set was also what likely resulted in the title of Sloan's first fic (the answer to that challenge) being called A Day at the Races.

Aha! That's it. Hold it right there. Pronoun trouble. It's not "he doesn't have to shoot YOU now," it's "he doens't have to shoot ME now." Well I say he DOES have to shoot me now!! So shoot me now!

Oh, Grizhabel'd hasn't actually done any singing in Yun-Yammka in Escrow (see profile) for over a year XD
Guess I need to write more of her actually performing.
