You could have a "lazy" moon like Taurus? Sun sign is what you appear outwardly, moon is your emotions. Then there's a mess of other stuff too complex to go into here.
Hence, why Loch is a Scorpio--but the Aries moon makes him confrontational, temperamental, and impulsive.
Hmmm...I wonder what Chinese sign Loch is *scrabbles to find old placemats from Chinese take-out*

I actually want Elmira to be an Aquarius (because the calendar she uses has more days than the one we have) because of the Regina Spektor song with the same title. Capricorn is a sea-goat (which dolphins basically are).
"Dear someone listening in the shadows
I only talk to you sometimes
And though I ask for help in riddles
It is clearer in my mind, clearer in my mind
Born of a sign that carries vessels
But in a month that's cold as ice
I know I question things too quickly
But I have never questioned if I've loved
Dear someone watching from the shadows
I'm clenching water in my fists
the drops, they slip right through my fingers
But there's water on my lips, water on my lips..."
I'm a Leo but I think I could be another sign.

That's funny, I have a friend who is an Aquarius and is obesessed with Regina Spektor. And my mom has the same birthday as you. It's actually the day Cancer turns to Leo--so you could very well be another sign!
Is there something about the lyrics or the sound of the song that remind you of Elmira?
Does anyone have a particular song whose lyrics remind you very strongly of your OC?
I would say "Shape of my Heart" by Sting reminds me of Loch.
He deals the cards as a meditation and those he plays never suspect.
He doesn't play for the money he wins, he doesn't play for respect.
He deals the cards to find the answer, the sacred geometry of chance,
the hidden law of a probable outcome, the numbers lead a dance.
He may play the jack of diamonds, he may lay the queen of spades,
he may conceal a king in his hand while the memory of it fades.
And if I told you that I loved you, you'd maybe think there's something wrong.
I'm not a man of too many faces, the mask I wear is one.
Those who speak know nothing and find out to their cost
like those who curse their luck in too many places and those who fear are lost.
I know that the spades are swords of a soldier, I know that the clubs are weapons of war,
I know that diamonds mean money for this art but that's not the shape of my heart.
That's not the shape of my heart. That's not the shape, shape of my heart.

The instrumental piece "Autumn Child / Heaton Chapel" by Lunasa reminds me of my OCs Cadfaelus and Kennet. It switches halfway through from rather traditional acoustic sounds to something more electric in origin, while maintaining the same melody. Cadfaelus is a tiny bit of a reformer, but he's still definitely a product of his people and just his people. Kennet has sampled from a bit more of the galaxy's offerings, but still has a heavy base in the things he grew up with anyway.
The BeeGees song "New York Mining Disaster 1941" has lyrics that remind me of Saman.

Happy early birthday, kecen.
Okay, so I'm really late with the playlists that my OCs would listen to, but here are some.
Darin
1. "How Far We've Come" by Matchbox Twenty
2. "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams
3. "Photograph" by Nickelback
4. "Whatever It Takes" by Lifehouse
5. "Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen
6. "Just Not Today" by Kenny Chesney (he would have gotten this song from the music collection of his best friend growing up)
7. "Drift Away" (the Uncle Cracker version)
Quiver
1. "Life Is a Highway" by Tom Cochran
2. "Grace Kelly" by Mika
3. "Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffett
4. "Just Not Today" by Kenny Chesney (stolen from CC's music collection)
5. "We Weren't Crazy" by Josh Gracin
6. "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" by R.E.M.
7. "One Week" by Barenaked Ladies
8. "500 Miles" by The Proclaimers
CC
1. "Stuck With You" by Huey Lewis & The News
2. "We Weren't Crazy" by Josh Gracin (stolen from Quiver's music collection, but in her mind its meaning would refer to her attitude toward her parents' disapproval of her joining the Rebellion)
3. "No Reins" by Rascal Flatts
4. "Orinoco Flow" by Enya
5. "Twist and Shout" by The Beatles
6. "Live Every Moment" by REO Speedwagon
7. "Just Not Today" by Kenny Chesney (stolen from Darin's music collection)
8. "Take The Long Way Home" by Supertramp

I recently compiled a playlist of sorts for two OC's that I need to start working on for a future story. This is really the first time I've done a full set of songs for any characters. It almost seems like a wasted effort, considering they'll be dead in the story (one of them dies in the first chapter ). But I suppose it does help in some fashion that the songs I put together aren't just about them, but also reflect certain themes I want to tackle in the story. The ambitious social climber, the odd religious cult that woos and wows those with money, the emotional pangs of a young romantic fool, and the decay of a corrupt society all work in a symbiotic circle of sorts to form a cohesive set list...or maybe that's just the crack talking for me again. (I swear, I've been smoking more of the good stuff when I can, kids...no, really ).
Anyway, a sampling of my boring arse singy-songy listy-list:
"Happiness"--Goldfrapp
"Alison"--Elvis Costello
"Welcome To The Jungle"--Guns N' Roses
"Shut Up And Let Me Go"--The Ting Tings
"Losing My Religion"--REM
"Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)"-- Peter Sarstedt

Just a quick reminder that if you haven't voted yet, you have less than 12 hours to get it in and make a difference in this heated race!!!

Whoa. Wow, thanks! And congratulations, Manion!
Have a good trip, MsLanna. And celine, if you have similar tastes in music, be careful because they'd probably raid your music collection too.
