RE: The Official TFN Archive Thread: Service disruption/new time period!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone
As LLL said, this was a manual project, and it did involve physically moving all the fics over to "new" time periods. It was a bit of work, but, with the new system of letters rather than numbers, we should have a greater ability to add time periods in the future - and more easily, too.
Bri - I think Post-ANH is after ANH through ESB and right to the end of RotJ. Then post-RotJ takes over from there. There was actually some talk about redoing those periods, post-ANH mainly, because it's a little strange compared to most time period orderings. But who am I to argue with the wisdom of the great Archive Makers?
And, hey! I hung out with my mom! Wrapped her a present all by myself and everything! She just had to work.
And, ow, my fingers hurt ...

*hands asperin* Thanks go to PA for doing this on Mothers day and leaving me out of it. It is easier to use and will help in the future.
Hope all you fan fic Moms had a great day yesterday.

Apparently the Archive pages are malfunctioning and crashing people's browsers.
Anthony has been notified. We'll let you know when we're up and running again!

Anthony has everything back up and running.
This was unfortunately a rather massive hack. We didn't lose anything major, but Anthony reports that two comments couldn't be recovered. The email was also completely shut down for the whole of the day: if anything was sent to us, please resend. Anthony is turning on the logs so he can more easily monitor the site in the future.

It's been a very long time since there were writing challenges. Can we have one sometime this year?

Uh-oh. Are we really sure this is fixed??
I just tried to get into the archive and got the blank screen again. I can get to the password screen but it keeps telling me I got the wrong password. This is the same thing it was doing last night.

I can get into the Archive, but fic links give me this after the summary:
Source of Confusion posted: Server.MapPath() error 'ASP 0173 : 80004005'
Invalid Path Character
/_private/fanficCore.asp, line 663
An invalid character was specified in the Path parameter for the MapPath method.
Looked at one of the articles; it doesn't give the error message, but the content is missing and the comments are full of weird stuff.

Apparently it's giving different systems different results and isn't fixed after all, or was re-hacked. I'm just getting a Banner and a white page and nothing else. I've contacted the proper authorites...AGAIN!

Yeah, I'm getting nothing but the banner and then a blank page beneath it.

Maybe it's just me, but if you're really going to spend your time hacking into a fan fiction archive, I think it's time to get a life.

I'm guessing it's more than just the Archive. This seems like something that's probably going on with other sites. Who ever does this sort of thing is probably trolling around the net looking for older stuff to get into with vulerabilities, but I could be wrong.

Yes, I just tried it and had to power off my computer. It wouldn't let me back out otherwise.
