Yes, but we do assume you've seen Star Wars around here.
So, for anyone who's curious, thanks to some brainstorming help from LLL, we now have a name for our Imperial Officer. His first name is still _________ but his last name, the important thing, is Bel Maden. He's a Corellian, obviously, from the same region as Garm Bel Iblis. He is a man who is respected by his fellows for his attempts at refinement, but detested by his inferiors because he's a pretentious dork.
I've got some dialogue and am working on pacing/scene structure. Nothing I'll share yet, but it's in process.

Absolutely! If this wasn't a serious fan film, I would have you write the Wilhelm Choir into the story. It's my own little creation of altered wilhelm screams which becomes a song of my choice. Flippin hilarious. I am in the works on it right now as my own little fan audio.

Can the Wilhelm Choir sound like Duel of the Fates? 
And was it ever clarified if this man is a governor or admiral? I don't think that was in the original story treatment and the name itself from what you put out was just out. I think it'll depend largely on what we want as the nature of the blackmail.

I originally envisioned him as an officer the patriarch once worked with/under, but he could have moved on to another post since then. I think we have flexibility in this, as long as what you do doesn't conflict with what's already been written.
I think you have to decide who he is, then how they knew each other, then the nature of the blackmail can be fitted to those parameters.

Well part 1 has him as a captain and part 2 has him as a governor...so the next logical step is to have him as the Emperor in part 3
It's something we talked about though, because the blackmail can't be about money, it has to be something more significant, something the droid can't simply get by hacking into a bank computer. So that's going to mean moving the family off world or restoring the former admirals rank, something like that. Which means that the Imperial is going to have to have a high enough rank that would allow him to give in to the blackmail and essentially defy Vader's orders regarding the family, without paying the price for going against the Dark Lord. And the only rank that might allow that to happen is a governor, so I made the Imperial the Governor of Bestine and the surrounding region.

Hmm. I originally had this about money, though, so we could also go back and do some minor surgery to Part One so that there isn't a plot hole (If the droid can actually steal credits, it should just do so rather than setting out on this quest in the first place.) I say this because it's difficult to say what would save this guy's life other than the right medicine...which would mean money. It's just that the original situation is someone deathly ill, and the saving McGuffin has to be about that.
Unless we twist that somehow. Perhaps this medicine is contraband on Naboo (because it's mainly a labor colony) but can be bought elsewhere for the right price. That sort of thing.
You were working on Part One anyway, so if it is going to be money, I can just incorporate your changes and then do a bit more to the scene with the droid and the thieves.

Well, strictly speaking, him being referenced as Governor Kane was not legal. :P I'm more comfortable with him being a Captain because really the sort of character I'm envisioning wouldn't have risen quickly to power under the rule of Palpatine. That sort of marginally-respectable figure took more precedence when the major players in the Empire had already been eliminated. So for the sake of characterization and continuity with the style of the Empire, I vote for Captain Jonhin Bel Maden.
And I think that the idea of contraband medicine makes more sense for the sort of thing that's being played out here. Namely, if it were a matter of the right number of credits, there would have been another way to get the supplies, but this would have to be something where going through a middle man would be impossible.

About the plot hole... I thought the idea was that the droid only said it could obtain the credits in order to stall for time. If you notice in Part One, it actually does nothing of the sort - instead it grabs a pipe and is saved from having to bean one of the thieves by the entrance of a stormtrooper.
