Bot has to give an item that will hopefully save her old master's life to a friend because she knows she is about to die... in a blaze of glory. Kinda " I am Legend-ish" but that's what was going through my mind. This will happen when the Empire is trying to destroy the ship... they succeed but another ship comes to the rescue to save the crew right before the ship is actually destroyed.
I dunno... just throwin the idea out there.

WHAT'S HAPPENING! 6/7/08
Part Two, locked and loaded.
Sorry this is taking longer than I planned. We have major car trouble and have to go out car shopping in 100 degree heat with no money. 
And the Final Draft is taking out some of the formatting, forcing me to go over each and every line with a fine-toothed comb.

This is how I want to do it:
The administrator from the docking bay realises that the Quantum Thrust is actually the Solar Flare and starts hunting for Larson.
Bot and Larson arrive back home, Bot hands over the medicine and is scolded for leaving in the first place. She tries to explain but can't as the administrator shows up with some stormtroopers. There is a firefight between Larson and the storm troopers and BOT is hit in the crossfire. Larson is arrested and Melora acts like she doesn't care that BOT has been destroyed and suggests selling her for scrap. Larson gets annoyed and before he is taken away, he explains everything that BOT has done for the family and that they should treat her with a little more respect.
Melora, who, let's face it, has been a bit of a brat throughout, has a slight change of heart and thinks maybe it wouldn't be so bad if BOT was repaired, though she tries to mask her feelings by saying they would get more money if BOT was in full working order.
Larson is then hauled off to jail but is rescued along the way by the bounty hunters. They race to the Solar Flare and take off amid laser fire. As they fly out into space, they find a star destroyer blocking their path...Larson rolls his eyes, makes a sarcastic comment and flies the ship straight at the Star destroyer...iris out...
End Credits.

Hmmm...but what about BOT?
Let's say...
The family can't afford to repair BOT, so she ends up the property of Larson?
We should try for an emotionally satisfying ending. In some way. Tragedy can also be emotionally satisfying.

I dislike the idea of Melora only having a redeeming quality when she's smacked over the head with the truth. That characterization doesn't seem like it would ring true. Unless, of course, we want a character who is more petty and selfish than Bel Maden.

I also, if this heroic bot comes back with lifesaving medicine, you'd think the folks could show a little more gratitude.
I think the idea has merit, I just think we need to work on making the family more believable and sympathetic, and also with having BOT go out in a way that's emotionally satisfying in some way to the viewer.

I would have it where BOT gets hit in the crossfire like JedSithor suggested, but after that get rid of the part where Melora is such a snob. BOT would drop to the ground while shorting out and such.
BOT sees in the last part of her life images flashing in her mind (from the beginning with her Master to parts of the story to now). Then, she goes dark. The family mourns her sacrifice to bring home the medicine to her Master as they now hope that the medicine will restore the Master's health. Unfortunately, it does not. The Master is his closing moments whispers something about a chip that he downloaded of BOT. He instructs Melora to use the chip to build a new BOT. He then dies and the family mourns his death.
Larson could still be carted off to jail and rescued by the bounty hunters who also decide to rescue the rest of the family, including BOT. They grab everyone, including Melora who has the chip. They board the Solar Flare and take off amid laser fire. But, just have them fly into space and then iris out.
We don't need them to get into another mess yet; that can be saved for the sequel (if we ever do one).

As long as this is getting I'd be shocked if it ever actually gets filmed in the next 10 years.

Oh, good force...sequels. *twitch*
I think it might be interesting to have one or more family members who over the course of the timeline by the time Bot gets home, turned into someone who believed that Bot had not just deserted them. Maybe have them be the token optimist or someone who believes in the good anyway.

BOT's fate:
Think "300" when Leonidas gives his buddy his wife's necklace... and he returns it... and BOT goes out like smith in "I am Legend."
My rundown:
-Tie fighters have heavily damaged the ship on the way to Naboo.
-They call in help from passing rebel forces.
-A Star Destroyer engages the passing rebel ships as they attempt to rescue BOT.
-Tie fighters keep pounding the ship.
-One of the rebel ships (corellian corvette) blows away the fighters and attaches itself to BOT's ship.
-The other corellian corvette is destroyed by the SD.
-BOT is unable to get off the ship as the SD blasts it with its turbo lasers and she is forced to pass on a "message" to a shipmate who will give the message to BOT's "family".
-The corellian corvette recieves help from rebel capital ships which come out of hyperspace which forces the SD to retreat.
-The corvette goes to Naboo.
-The "messenger" goes to BOT's old home and gives her master the message explaining her voyage and also BOT gives her master a recipe for a cure for is disease.
If that's the way we want to take it...

That breakdown for the end sounds almost too complicated to me. Why would BOT have the recipe to cure his disease? It almost seems too farfetched. If BOT was that smart, then she should have cured her master in the first place and not go through all this trouble for nothing.
But, now it's basically in the hands of the filmmakers so hopefully it can be resolved in some way that BOT dies honorably.
