That breakdown for the end sounds almost too complicated to me. Why would BOT have the recipe to cure his disease? It almost seems too farfetched. If BOT was that smart, then she should have cured her master in the first place and not go through all this trouble for nothing.

But, now it's basically in the hands of the filmmakers so hopefully it can be resolved in some way that BOT dies honorably.

Well yeah, I said recipe but it wouldnt have to be. BOT may have had the recipe in the beginning but wouldnt have had the materials to make the cure, hence her voyage. Like I said... all ideas.
Maybe she makes the cure in the ship on her way home using the materials she collected????

Just doin what I do... throwin ideas out there... trying to contribute. not_talking

So it's more like intergalactic chemistry, eh?

Well, obviously not chemistry the way I did it. I never blew anything up, but had boiling magnesium in a red-hot crucible land in my hand, had hydrochloric acid spilled on my arm...this was all my lab partner's fault, did I mention that?

Um. the point is:

So it's not so much a recipe as a mixture.

That's not going to work with what's currently written.

Not that it can't be rewritten, but I think that before we deal with an ending, we need a firm answer on whether the filmies want rewrites, what problems they want addressed, and who's gonna do 'em.

My reasoning here is that if we go all out making up some kind of ending now, and we get our hearts set on it...

...then the filmies will decide that they can't film the script as it is for whatever reasons, it goes all haywire in the rewrite stage, and then whatever ending we busted our butts on doesn't work anymore.

Yeah, so what do the filmies think?

Well I was just throwing an idea out there and if it wont work, then we wont do it. Writers come up with the ending... filmies make it work. Even if we have to tweak it slightly. Go ahead and come up with an idea then we'll see. peace

Well, but why do we want to write something that isn't filmable??

The whole idea was to write something you could actually film.

If there is going to be a problem with filming this, the time to address it is now. If we just go ahead and do something and then you can't film it, it's gonna be rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, delays, delays, delays.

Are you sure about this?

I will consult the fan films forum. In my opinion... it is filmable. Just need an ending.

If you're sure we don't need rewrites on this, then I'll go ahead and crank up the final push to The End.

But please, take your time and be sure. I'm way overloaded with stuff to do, and if we end up in endless rewrites, I may end up having to hand the oversight here to someone else.

I know it links you straight back to this forum, but since I wrote a message, might as well read it.

We are trying to decide if the script is filmable. READ and POST your opinions.
THANK YOU!

Just read all four parts. There's definitely room for rewrites, especially with some of the dialogue. I also think there needs to be a few more scenes in there that deal with the family.

As far as the ending goes, I've already posted a general idea of how I'd want to end it.

As for it being filmable...it is doable. Not as a multi-production film as originally intended however. The biggest problem is going to be the price involved. There are simply too many sets needed and the exteriors are going to be a real problem. Frankly I don't think a rewrite is going to make any difference...so much would have to be stripped away that it simply wouldn't be the same film anymore.

I think that involving the family more might strip it of the suspense.

Just show the Admiral getting worse every time we go back to him, to give a sense of urgency. Plus, if the ending used is one where he dies, then those scenes will be needed, otherwise it will be a non-event with no real connection with the family for the audience...if the Admiral dies, then we have to care that he dies. That's part of the reason I want BOT to die instead, because BOT is someone that we do spend time with and establish a connection with.
