An Open Call For Writers Interested In Something Different (It's Before the Saga)

Hello and thanks for popping in. It came to me today, as I watched AotC, that it would be interesting if there was a story about the forming of the Jedi Order. The general idea I got was that on Coruscant, as people begin to exhibit Force capabilities, the young Republic has to decide what to do about this.
I then thought that perhaps it would be interesting in doing a series of short stories about this written by several different writers (or more!). I have a number of more ideas but I'm interested in getting different ideas. Almost like a TV series, appropriate since we have one coming (!), in that we get a long story with some episodic qualities and some continuing qualities.
I figure the main three themes would be these:
1) What to do with these Force users
2) How to hold together this newly formed Republic
3) How to keep the Republic safe in a time where more and more alien worlds are being discovered
If you're interested in (or just considering) please post or drop me a PM and we can chat about it. While I guess I would be the "Editor" of this I certainly do not intend to tell you what to write. I just thought it would be nifty if we perhaps had our own little EU here in a time setting that has not been explored.

Do you have an explanation for why nobody noticed this Force thingy until the Republic was born, or will this be hand-waved away?

I did a double take when I saw your name in fanfic, Sid  Really excellent idea though, it sounds very interesting and unique. I'd like to be part of something like that. It sounds like a great exercise for original characters.

Wow, I was seriously just thinking about this a few weeks ago. I don't know if I'll have time to write for a little bit, but once I get a chance it would be really interesting. Even if I don't end up with time to write I'll certainly be a reader.

To quote the sci-fi channel when it comes to Battlestar Galactica: All Will Be Revealed.
I'm well aware that there, in the Star Wars Universe, should always have been some type of Force user. So, yes, that will be addressed and may actually be a key plot point even if it's a bit down the road.

This is an interesting idea. I was actually just thinking the other day about the beginning of the Republic and of the Jedi Order, and how they would have interacted. I suppose I was imagining that there were probably other individuals and groups of people who interacted with the Force, using or following or both and that maybe the Order was formed out of a sort of collection of people who tended toward both the peace-not-passion view and... hm... a tendency to take action on behalf of others, in defense or mediation, maybe shading into being vigilantes depending on the surrounding circumstances, but anyway who were in favor of this new effort at representative government.
Which, er, may be wildly off topic since I don't know that it much resembles what you've described. *g* Rambling, I guess. I think your version of it will be really interesting; I don't know that I'd really do a good job coordinating with a group project like that, but I hope it goes really well for you.

Just so everyone knows, you only have to pop in and write one story if that's what you want. If nothing else it will give you some pretty good writing exposure and readers of this who like your story may check out your other work.
