Within the next 48 hours for sure. With the new system for qualifying fics (decreasing the number of noms needed until the category has a minimum of 3 fics to vote for) we want to make sure everyone's lists match before we post anything.

Thanks for all the help of all the volunteers, but given that Saga is now moving into the excerpt submission phase I thought it would be a good time for this. I know excerpts can only be 800 words, but pretty much all of us write fics that are longer than 800 words which means we need to maximize the space that we have. That being said, I was looking at last year's excerpt thread and saw that in general it looked like this:

(An optional author's note)
The excerpt
I am certain that the author's note and excerpt are part of the 800 words, but what about the title and author name? Are those excluded as just being labels to distinguish each excerpt, or do the authors need to factor those in when they create their excerpt?
Also, is there any change in the excerpt format from last year? And if part of a fic is in italics, should those be sent as broken markups for the volunteers and should we make note of it on top of our submission so they know we have broken markups?

The author's name and the title of the story aren't counted in that 800 words, just the excerpt and any author's note. Any codes (italics, bold, etc.) should be sent broken, just like you did your noms. {i] [/i].

Hmmnn  , I question about the nomination timeframe. Several days back I hope I sent in some noms to the Beyond the Saga Sock(4 days now), and I still don't see the noms on the list. Then I PM'd a couple days back and was told that someone was looking into if my nom PM arrived. Since then I've heard nothing, so I'm just wondering if I should re-submit the nominations as time is kinda running out, or are the volenteers simply overloaded and have yet to get to my noms? Please advise, thanks very muchly.

Question (I've read through the FAQ's and didn't see this covered): My coauthor and I are up for Best Collaborative. It's listed under our collective sock (Lannakinsfavorish). Do we need to submit it under the sock's name or under one of our individual screennames? The qualifying PM was sent to the sock.

As long as it's clear who it is coming from and what the excerpt is for, it doesn't matter.

About excerpts... if your story was nominated, but you didn't get any PMs about choosing excerpts - should you automatically send in excerpts if you know your story was nominated, or do you have to wait for a conformation PM?

You should wait until you get a confirmation PM. If you don't get one soon (within the next couple of days), PM the era's Awards sock about it.

Hey, since when do PMs have to "conform?"  I understand some authors got "confirmation PM's" - is there a difference?
