General Veers: Do ya love him or hate his guts? That is the purpose of this discussion thread. To me, since it has been a loooooonnngg while since I have read any of the books, the only thing I really remember about him is that he was at the Battle of Hoth, and was supposed to have died, unti they retconned it, and said that he survived, but was in a hoverchair, his legs smashed beyond repair. (Kinda like Professor X of the X-men.)

Do you like him, love him, hate him or feel completely indifferent to him?

I have a plot bunny running about, concerning his finding love with his female civilian aide, eventually remarrying, and even reconciling with his son Zevulon. (They never said in any of the books whether he did or not, so I'm going to have it where he does. It's my story and I can do what I want. That's what Alternate Universes are for.)

Any and all opinions can be expressed here, but keep 'em clean, this is a family board.

Eh, just another arrogant Imperial officer. tongue

Seriously though, after what I read on Wookieepedia, you gotta admire the man. Whether you loved or hated the empire, he fought for what he believed in, not for glory, but because he believed in it. It's a shame what happened to him in the end.

I think that he's a very dedicated Imperial officer. He has his own level of dedication, but not necessarily a dishonorable man.

When he drank from the wrong cup and aged to death in seconds?

It's funny because I actually got that...

The guy who played Veers was the bad guy in The Last Crusade.

I don't dislike Veers, I really don't. He was just following orders, I guess. I don't think he was a really bad man. I kind of like him.

Empire, Last Crusade and Doctor Who all at once?

What kind of high octane Coke or Pepsi do you drink?

I remember that episode of Doctor Who. To me, the bad guy wasn't really all that scary. Not compared to Roger Delgado's Master.

Veers is an interesting character.

I get the sense that he was an honorable soldier who tried to be a decent man, but fought for "the wrong side," so to speak. He makes me think of Erwin Rommel, actually.

The problem is that he was utterly uncompromising and driven solely by his work/duty (Think of the rift with his son.)

Good luck with the story!

Another Veers fan here. He struck me (even in his admittedly minor role in ESB) as an honourable man who was simply fighting for what he believed in, like quite a few Imperial officers (Pellaeon and Soontir Fel spring to mind). Unfortunately, like every other Imperial officer, he was on the losing side of the war.

Besides, anyone who's brave enough to attempt to cover for another officer in front of Darth Vader has got to be a more honourable man than most.
