So... the news here says that Farrah Fawcett just died.

Isn't it scary that I get a good chunk of breaking news like this from the JC? Even before checking Yahoo news, I went to YJCC to see if there was a thread...

I just heard this as well. Sad. I was a kid and fan of Charlie's Angels back in the day.

I bet I'm not the only one to be getting this heat wave. I've never had to go a summer without air conditioning before, and this makes me realize how spoiled I am by it. Sleeping when it's hot... pretty difficult.

Though I did discover that a juicy apple on a hot day is almost heavenly. Now that I've realized that, I'd almost rather have an apple than ice cream or something like that.

How does everyone else beat the heat?

In the Netherlands it is now hot too and that's for me after a small surgery quite taxing. Surgery was on monday and in the hospital it was nice and cool and the two days following it I was having some of that anaesthesia stuff still in my body and that was soothing and making me quite sleepy but now it's gone and I have to endure the heat. No sun for me and just relaxing in the house or under the large fig-tree. And making drawings for SoA and reading the LOTF books but not that much.

Earlybird: what surgery was it? I hope it went well.

It's been boiling here, at least in my room. My new haircut is great, I would have had a sweaty neck and back from my hair.

a nerve on my forehead damaged by a fall from a bike and with some dirt and scar tissue that's now removed it's a lot better. No more ants crawling through my hair. happy And that's been going on for almost a year. frustrated

And no haircut and that's a disappointment for the bald guy and the not so bald guys in our fire dept. They were teasing me last week before the surgery that the nurses would shave all my hair and that I only could come back after I had grown it back.

I know. I was stunned when I heard the news. I'm going to watch the Thriller video before I go to bed.

I was at a department meeting when the head of our dept. said "I have some bad news, Michael Jackson died." We all thought she was joking until we got back into the hospital and everyone was talking about it. sad

On a completely random note, I got to stick my very first femoral blood gas last night! It was pretty cool.
(Wow! How sad is your life when that is something to be excited about! silly )

You wouldn't think it's so cool if you were on the other end of the needle! laugh Last month I had blood drawn from my wrist for a blood gas test, and man, that HURT! Plus they needed to pierce me 4 times to get it right rolling_eyes .

I know that feeling. One of my idols growing up was Neal A. Maxwell and this one day my hubby came to me after choir practice and announced that Maxwell had died. Since he was laughing, I thought he was playing a sick joke, but no.

Never really liked his music all that much, though I won't deny the man was incredibly talented. I feel mostly sad for the bizarre twists and turns his life took. It just seems an awful waste. sad I'm quite sure we'll be seeing the Thriller video non-stop on the television. tongue

I wonder what will happen to his kids now. I assume the older two will go with their mother, but what of the youngest? How strange their lives have been! Will they be any more normal now? Or worse? Hard to say.

don't become a blood donor. You get stuck 6 times a year Three big needles and three little ones in your fingertip. And when I was donating bonemarrow I got stuck 40 times in my hipbones but lucky me grin full anaesthesia for that and the little girl that received it was saved dancing Only thing after that a very sore throat and ice-cold and that was solved with ice and warm blankets.

I can't donate, I had viral hepatitis when young. Blood test twice a week for the first couple of weeks, then once a week, then every other week, then once a month until a year passed. Lost my scare for needles then and there, which was good, because later I needed treatment for allergies with vaccines (dozens of them), with my first child I needed an emergency c-section and the docs tried 9 points in my spine to insert an epidural needle (light local anesthesia, but it hurt later!) before giving up and putting me under with total anesthesia, with my second we went to a programmed c-section but again, my spine refused to cooperate until they reached the nineth point. And in the last couple of years, hormonal troubles forced me again to get repeated blood tests... But it was the first time since I was a child that a needle actually made me cry! (They needed the blood gas test done because I had received an electrical shock at work rolling_eyes )

I almost envy you, I always feel a bit sad when someone asks me to donate blood and I have to excuse myself. blush
