I knew every major cussword by the time I was six, due to unofficial 'vocabulary' lessons on the bus, so I could see kids of those ages or younger cussing like that.

Hey, just thought I'd add my two cents (credits?)

I think having people swear by saying, "Oh Force!" is completely impact-less. I've read a lot of stories with Jedi cursing that way, and let's face it, no shock value! They say "Force" in other contexts pretty much constantly. So, how about them obviously "taking the name of the Force in vain":

"By the Force Itself!"
"If I get my hands on him, I'll beat the Living Force out of him!"

... and so on, and so on, and so on - this can get fun if you find ways to make their phrases echo obscene Earth expressions. I find that sets off the "oh, swearing" bell in readers' heads very well.

[Rubs hands together]

Okay-dokey, in my fiction, I have long used 'Frag' and 'Drokk' to punctuate the speech of my characters.
I tried out a number of words, and 'frag' came out light years ahead. 'Drokk' is a swear word from Judge Dredd that I commandeered.

One of the Star Wars Encyclopedias featured the word 'choobie' to describe ones' posterior, so I use that instead of a$$.

I don't have little children swearing, but with rebellious teens on the couple times that I have portrayed them. I decided that since the Empire outlawed the jedi, and changed history to show them in a bad light, I would use the name of one.

'Jorus/Joruus' is said instead of 'Jesus', and 'C'boath' can be used too.

I think that is the extent of my swearing. I think 'frag' is my favourite and most oft-used term, and I tend to use it in real life too. My friends and colleagues know something is fragging serious if they get an honest to goodness F[bleep] out of me.

I wish I had found this thread a couple of weeks ago...

Little kids swearing? My 4-year older knows every curse, which he picked from his elder brother, who picks them at school (well, maybe they picked one or two from me too grin ).
I washed his mouth with soap once!

Not sure if this has been said, but murglak - used quite extensively in the early Republic series. Sorry if it's been said, I haven't read this whole thing. =)

Whore could work.

I agree with Ophelia 100% though. If you really want the genuine SW movie feel, you should give her post a once-over. If you're going for an EU feel though, go ahead and fill your story with shavits and frells and have characters "suck vac" to your heart's content. tongue
