That was very interesting:
Durga suspects Nom Armor of foul play and wants to collect the bounty for the rebels. Never trust a Hutt, but also never underestimate Roi Danton. He stumbles across all that and will foil the Hutt's and Nom Armor's plans. And, of cause, he will rescue the maiden fair.

Durga is right to suspect Nom Anor. Though he doesn't know the half of it. I wonder if he eventually finds out, sooner than expected...

It was the Ferron and not the Hutt who spoke french and I doubt that anyone understood him.
When can we read the next part?

We will see, who will be in need of rescue ...
Concerning the next part, I have good news and bad news. The good news is I got a new job at the beginning of the year. The bad news: it is a vergy good job, one I want to keep and also very complex. So aside from regular work I have to do one or two hours in addition in the evenings to get myself up to the task. Consequently this is time I no longer have for hobbies and the making of updates. This will change back once I'm fit at my new field of work, but until then it will take even longer than before. I'm really sorry about that, but the issues of real life take priority.

So, the story is as good as dead.
I hope that we will see a new chapter soon.

No, you are wrong. The next chapter is already in the making. If we are lucky I have it finished tomorrow evening. If not, next week.

The Colliding of Empires
With a barely audible thump the door closed behind the terrans, leaving them to their own devices in one of the guest-suites of Darth Vader's palace on Coruscant.
"Alone." Iwan-Iwanowitsch Goratschin stated. "Finally."
"How alone we really are is still something to be discovered." Atlan muttered and gave Kasom a wink. "Major, if you'd be so kind."
Understanding the unspoken order of his superior the giant from Ertrus took a scanner-like device out of the multitude of his pockets and started to search the quaters for hidden cameras and listening-devices.
"Dear god." Rhodan muttered and stretched his back. "I thought this party would never end."
His companions, who knew about the dislike of their Grandadministrator for social events of this kind, grinned at each other.
"I could have told you." Atlan mocked. "Sooner or later all good things come to an end."
"In this case later. And especially you're one to talk about a good thing." Rhodan shot back. He looked at his friend, his concern for the well-being of the arkonide appearing on his face. "I have sweated blood and water during that "friendly" duel of yours. More than once I thought this to be the last day of your ten-thousand year long life."
"I find your lack of faith disturbing." Atlan's voice had still an ironic tone. Then his features softened. "I'm grateful for your concern, friend, but the situation was far from out of control."
"It certainly didn't look to us this way." the Grandadministrator argued.
"Because you lack the experience to judge, no matter how often we spar against each other."
"Even with my limited experience I could tell, that Vader could have killed you on several occasions."
"Oh, I'm sure he could have killed me anytime, if he only wanted." Atlan argued calmly. "But that was something that we knew before this contest, now didn't we?"
"Maybe. So tell me again. Why did you have to risk your life this way?" Rhodan already knew the answer, had known it all along, but he needed the confirmation from his friend. Needed the justification for the risk his friend had undergone.
"Because Vader is one of the most powerful men of a galaxy-spanning empire and we need to know how far such a man can be pushed before he loses control."
"Well, you certainly pushed him to the limit, Lordadmiral." John Marshall added. "That much I was able to discover."
"In every case pushing is an activity, that always makes me thirsty." Perry Rhodan said hastily in an attempt to let prevent the telepath from talking about his special ability in front of possible "bugs". Not that it might be of much use, since Darth Vader certainly didn't need technical gadgets to learn about them. "Now I need a drink."
Kasom, who had finished his examination of the suite took the bridge Rhodan's comment offered him.
"Me too. This suite is in need of a "Kammerjäger" (german = destroyer of vermin), who takes care of the guests." Specialists of the USO were required to know at least two of the old terran languages for cases like this, Rhodan knew the language because of his german ancestry and Atlan - well, Atlan was Atlan.
"About how much of a need are we talking, Kasom?"
"Just a modest one. Nothing a litre of Vurguzz and the hindquater of an ox couldn't cure. Medium with a sharp pepper-sauce."
"I doubt they know pepper in this galaxy." Goratschin said. "And until you know the local equivalent you'll have to use your own stuff."
"Thankfully I'm prepared for everything." the USO-specialist explained with a grin and took another device out of his bottomless pockets. "Although I wonder, if it is not too late in the evening for a little burning of synapses." He looked questioningly at Rhodan, asking for a permission or a decline to use the portable jamming-device.
"There is no need to bother the room-service this late in the evening. Put your pepper-castor away."
---
Unknown to the terran entourage - or so they thought - two members of Darth Vader's security-department - the room-service Rhodan hadn't wanted to bother - were watching the exchange over the surviallance-systems.
"Any idea what the big fellow meant with "Kammerjäger"? Or "pepper"?"
"Probably their term for a chambermaid. Poor guy seems to be hungry. This pepper of theirs must be some kind of spice and pretty potent stuff, if it is able to burn synapses. There, they're going to rest."
"Thank the Emperor. There are better ways to spent an evening, than trying to figure out an alien terminology."
For some reason it never occured to them to wonder, why the terrans were holding their conversation in Basic instead of their own Intercosmo.
---
While the terrans visitors of the GalacticEmpire and Darth Vader went to sleep, their host couldn't afford this luxury. As his Master, the Emperor, had once sarcastically answered to a flattery of the late Grand Moff Tarkin "ruling the galaxy was a fulltime job". There were always problems to deal with, crises to be solved and as long as the new DeathStar wasn't operational the number of those wouldn't drop. Wondering, if the rebels had commited another atrocity or which Admiral of the Empire had gone warlord this week, the Sith-Lord entered the briefing room to be greated by his master.
"Ah, Lord Vader. Finally you're able to meet with us." The sarcasm wasn't lost on Vader and he gritted his teeth behind his mask. Only one person in the entire universe dared to talk to him like that and his master did it only when he felt it necessary to remind him, who was the master and who was the apprentice in their relationship. As if he could ever forget THAT.
"Forgive me, my master, but I had to see to the shelter of our guests." the Dark Lord said quickly, hoping to placate the Emperor. Eager to change the topic he finally acknowledged the presence of the other persons in the room. Director of Imperial Intelligence Ysanne Isard, Grand Admiral Ishin Il-Raz, Admiral Betl Oextroe and Admiral Talleen Wermis. With Il-Raz currently in charge of Naval Operations at Navy Headquaters (and Vader was truly grateful, that Oextroe was there to hold Il-Raz's hand) the man's presence was a necessary evil, but Wermis being here came as a surprise. Talleen Wermis was the second-in-command of Grand Admiral Osvald Teshik and the forces stationed at Anaxes Citadel.
If the "Defender of the Core" was involved something big was going on. And he himself, the SupremeCommander of the Imperial Forces, hadn't been aware of it.
"What is the meaning of this?" he asked, his voice dangerously low.
"That will be decided during this briefing." the Emperor explained. "In fact we have several problems to deal with and they are all connected in one way or another. But before we come to that, how are your guests?"
"Good. I offered them the choice between returning to their ship and quaters at my castle. They accepted my invitation, so I made the necessary arrangements, dropped them of and returned here."
"Did you detect any hidden or hostile intentions? Like them being up to something?" Palpatine inquired.
"Nothing of the sort. Why?"
"Because in that case we're looking at an interesting coincidence" the Emperor stated with a soft voice. Then his tone changed. "Aggressors from outside our domain have dared to attack the Empire. How to deal with them will be determined by this meeting."
Vader shot a look at Ysanne Isard, that could have cut durasteel. "And ImperialIntelligence had no idea about a coming attack? How could that be?"
"As his Majesty just explained, the invaders are from OUTside the Empire." the female director explained, an angry gleam in her red eye. "There is no way we could have known about them in the first place. Or their plans to attack us."
"In that case I have to wonder, what you are doing here?" Darth Vader's contempt for the woman was mixed with pity.
Contempt, because she was one of the many borderline psychopaths the Emperor had put into high office. He understood the reasoning for it. People running a galactic empire had to be ruthless, had to be able to ignore that behind every name in a statistic was a living, sentinent being with a life, friends, family and dreams. That he could live with. But Palpatine took it to the extreme. The mindset of people like Ysanne Isard made it impossible for her to be trustworthy or for her to be able to cooperate with others for longer periods of time. It was one of the many safety-measures the Emperor used to secure his own power. Even if a number of his underlings managed to work together long enough to dispose of him, they wouldn't be able to rule the Empire for long. But Vader knew the other side of the coin, too. While many members of the Imperial Court and the Ruling council were close to the edge, they hadn't crossed it. There was still an anchor-point outside their own twisted personalities, somebody, who prevented them from focussing totally on themself.
The Emperor.
There were dignitaries of the Empire, who controlled enough resources or had the power to destroy a planet or even an entire star system and the truly frightening thing was, that for a friendly word from Palpatine they would do exactly that. And that was why Vader felt pity for Ysanne Isard. Because the woman truly believed, that Palpatine cared about her.
Oh yes, Vader knew the two sides of the coin. Knew it from experience.
"Because we have not only non-human scum from the Outer Rim to deal with." Ishin Il-Raz said with a pompous gesture. "A still non-operational DeathStar would have been the perfect bait for the rebels. They know as well as we do, that once operational every kind of attack on us would be a futile enterprise. The trap set by His Majesty was perfect. Unfortunately your actions and those of your new friends discouraged the rebels from coming out of their holes and fighting like a real military and ... ."
Vader supressed a yawn. Only NewOrder-fanatics and the most zealot members of COMPNOR weren't put to sleep by Il-Raz drowning voice. Raising his hand he interrupted the tirade of the Grand Admiral.
"The rebels are an insignificant nuisiance, but nothing more. Their actions are limited to the Outer Rim, where our forces are stretched to the limit. Once those are closer to our standards in the Core and Inner Rim their influence will drop even more."
"I wouldn't call the loss of Tarkin's DeathStar insignificant. And if they truly are of limited importance, why your personal interest in hunting them?" Isard asked.
"Wilhuf Tarkin was overconfidant and enamored with his creation. I have warned him more than once to not put all his faith into the technological terror of the DeathStar. And the Rebel-Alliance IS insignificant. What is NOT insignificant is, that they have help from a Jedi.
That is my concern."
"Ah yes. Luke Skywalker. I would find your obsession with this wanne-be Jedi fascinating, if I couldn't see how it is distracting you from what should be your main goal: the destruction of the rebellion." Isard argued.
"Once I have Skywalker, the rebellion will be destroyed. Either that or they won't be much of a threat anymore." Vader shot back.
"Ridicilous." sneered Il-Raz. "How can a single man be of such importance?"
"Because he is the son of his father. And I hope you haven't forgotten the role Anakin Skywalker played during the clone-war." "And the role I played in the "death" of the "Hero without Fear"." Vader thought to himself.
"That was more than twenty years ago. Twenty years, where the few Jedi who escaped the purge weren't much of a threat. So I have to ask again: Why is this young man so important?"
"Because we will use him as the angle to destroy the rebellion." Palpatine finally joined the conversation. It was obvious, that the Emperor had enough of the bickering of his underlings. "My plan to destroy the rebellion by crushing their military might with a single stroke couldn't be set into motion. This means we have to destroy them in another way. Mdm. Director, what can you tell us about the current condition of the rebellion?"
Shuffeling through her files the Director of ImperialIntelligence took a moment to collect herself. "From the reports of the few of our agents, who have managed to infiltrate the higher levels of the rebellion their fleet is short on supplies, largely because their raid on ORD Friggas failed. Now they are desperate about closing their shortages and how to get new supplies. One of those attempts seems to be an alliance with the Hutts, but that decision has caused a lot of friction within their ranks."
"Small wonder." Admiral Wermis commented. "From their point of view the Hutts are as bad as we are."
"Don't compare us to the Hutts." Il-Raz admonished Wermis darkly. "It is further evidence of the rebels twisted thinking, if they compare human beings like us with the vermin from Nal Hutta."
Hearing this Vader could feel his gloved hand twitch. Oh, how he would love to crush the windpipe of that pompous, supercilious fool and - a warning look from the Emperor saved Il-Raz from a sudden death.
"It doesn't matter to me, what the rebels think off me. The interesting part is, how we can use that way of thinking of theirs to our advantage." Vader said. "And what this report tells me is, that the morale of the rebels isn't in the best condition and that there is a chink within their ranks. A chink we can use to divide them."
"Exactly, Lord Vader. And here is, how we do it."

Nice to see the inner workings of the Empire's higher echelons.
And I'd assume the aliens they were talking about were the Ssi-Ruuk, right?

About the DSII, I servely doubt it could survive the substained bombardment of several dozen ultraheavy Transformcannons from the OLD MAN. Or even any smaller carried vessel... If you can call a 2.5km superdreadnaught small...
Even if we go by the 200GT Turbolaser (sorry I'm a SpaceBattler at heart ), that is nothing compared to up to 4000GT TF nukes. And an OLD MAN is most likely able to throw around several x0000GT nukes around. Add to that little bit that SW shields are most likely not able to block 5D energy, which a TF uses to transprt the nukes.
Other than that, keep up the good work.
