Yeah, those damn New Republic types! Too lazy to defend those imperiled worlds!

Right, the candidat gets 100 points. It is no wonder, that the New Republic consisted of only 11,000 member-worlds during the time of the BlackFleetCrisis (12 years after Endor).
I hope i´ll have an update at sunday and then we will see a little hand-to-hand-combat.

RE: The tale of Darth Vaders Son - A SW - AU (please be nice and post a lot of comments)
Again it is two days past sunday and i´m only glad, it isn´t wednesday (that would have been too embarrassing).
Today we return to the "main" character of this little epos, who finds himself in a fight against somebody old enough to be his grandfather (perhaps even great-grandfather). If you want an idea of this little fight imagine something at the speed of Yoda against Count Dooku in AOTC - just without weapons and lasting much longer (to know how long, you have to read this update).
We also get a look into the heads of some secondary characters.
If you want to know, WHY there is a fight and what it has to do with that damn prophecy, you´ll have to wait for the next update.
Until then have a nice read.
And now: Enjoy!!!
The tale of Darth Vader´s Son
Captain Priem walked in slow strides along the transparisteel-windows of the bridge of the „Spectre“. Until now he had sucessfully managed to show no signs of nervousness. He didn´t wanted to worry his crew. The situation was bad enough with Lord Vader gone.
The Captain unwillingly admitted, that he thought it an insane idea of his superior to go alone into the Ogradevi-settlement. On the other hand the reduced contingent of troops aboard the „Spectre“ would hardly be of help, should those aliens prove hostile.
Thousand trillion people were living inside the huge complex and if only one promille of them served as military... . Settlement 7,459 alone would be able to provide the crews for more than twenty million ISDs including troops and there were twelve-thousand of those settlements, if this Sholter Roeg had spoken the truth.
It was no wonder, that his superior was so eager to get the Ogradevi under his thumb, but alone?
With only a protocol-droid as companion?
Priem was willing to admit, that despite his intimidating appearance and his often blunt, if not harsh manners Lucan Vader could be as silver-tongued like nobody else, but would that be enough to convince those savages of an alliance? And if he did, of what use could they be, if they were trapped in their own system far away from the populated centers of the galaxy?
The last message from Lord Vader was over an hour old and the Dark Lord had only told his men, that he had made contact with the leaders of the two fighting fractions and that there were some interesting developments going on. Since then Priem had heard nothing from his superior. The Captain of the „Spectre“ wasn´t force-sensitive, but over the years he had learned to trust his feelings and to listen to his instincts and now they were telling him, that somehow a turning point in history had been reached.
Priem usually didn´t believe in fate, but for once he was under the impression, that some kind of destiny was fullfilling itself.
Unfortunately there was nothing he could do, he was forced to stay at the sides and witness the events unfold. And that was something he didn´t liked. If he only knew, how Lord Vader was doing.
----
Lucan Vader barely managed to evade the powerful blow of his opponent. If the fist would have hit his head, the fight would have been over. In the next moment he turned to the side, reducing the surface of his body he presented Tersar Frascati and blocked the lower leg of the seven feet tall Ogradevi with his lower arm. Otherwise the praetor of settlement 7,459 would have hit him in the side below the ribcage. And given the strenght of his adversary, that wouldn´t have been a good thing.
Darth Vader´s son let his hand slide to the ankle of Frascati´s left foot, supporting his grip with the left hand he twisted the outstretched leg to the inside. Instead of loosing balance Tersar Frascati jumped into the air, following the direction Lucan had forced his leg he turned himself around a horizontal axis formed by his spine in a complete circle, using his right leg to aim a kick against the head of the young Lord Vader. Lucan had to let go of his opponent and the praetor dropped to the floor. It didn´t came as a surprise for the son of Darth Vader, that the Ogradevi managed to land on his feet. Crouching on the ground and continuing, where he had stopped in the air Frascati now moved his left leg again like a scythe and Lucan had to jump into the air, if he didn´t wanted to get hit and loose his stand. Another turn and his opponent was again standing upright in front of him. The entire episode of the this part of the battle hadn´t been longer than a second.
„Whoever wins this fight, i hope MC-44 has everything on tape.“ thought Lucan Vader, while he watched his opponent. „This is going to be the greatest battle of the last thirty-thousand years. A holo-tape of it will be worth billions of credits.“
Lucan could see the sweat dropping down Tersar Frascatis forehead and knew, that he didn´t looked much better. But the murderous determination with what the Ogradevi had started the battle was still there.
When he saw Tersar shifting his weight he knew, that the small break was over.
----
With a dry mouth Mirona Abro watched the two combatants fight.
After three quaters of an hour things finally started to get interesting. The first thirty minutes of the fight had been rather boring. Tersar Frascati and this Lord Vader had exchanged blows and kicks, had paried and blocked their opponents attacks with a speed, that had made it impossible to follow the fight with the naked eye. The movements of arms, legs and the rest of their bodies had been that fast, that they had only been visible as a blur. Already during the first minute of the fight, it had become obvious, that both men were excellent fighters and that no one of them would have a major advantage, that would allow him to end this fight in a short amount of time.
Of course things couldn´t go on like this forever. Sooner or later the strains of battle would demand their tribute, the opponents start to tire. The movements of both combatants had already slowed down to a certain degree and more and more the different sequences of their fight were interrupted by little breaks.
The female praetor of settlement 7,687 knew, that the answer to one of two questions would decide the outcome of this fight.
Question one: Who of the two men had the greater endurance, Tersar Frascati or Lord Vader?
And question two: Who would make the first grave mistake in an effort to end this battle, since both men had to know, that they were losing strenght the longer the battle lasted?
Mirona Abro realized, that there was a third question bothering her. She didn´t knew, whom of the two combatants she wanted to see as victor.
Tersar Frascati was an Ogradevi like herself, so she felt obliged to want him to win alone out of a species-based solidarity. Besides that Tersar was a very competent and skilled leader and while this made him a very dangerous competitor, if not a threat to the fragile balance of power between the different settlements, Mirona could hardly blame him for being born in another settlement than her own. Besides that, he was still very attractice for somebody who was already twenty years old.
Over the years Mirona had enjoyed the company of a lot of lovers, but those affairs had all been shortlived. For once her position demanded a lot of her attention, so there was little place for a relationship and as a second, she quickly became bored with her young men. She was the praetor of her settlement and so everybody else was inferior in rank and position to her, while Mirona Abro longed for an equal. Somebody, who was a match for her and even able to dominate her. And whenever she imagined herself in such a relationship, sooner or later her imaginery partner turned into Tersar Frascati.
Mirona didn´t know how often she had fantasized about having sex with him. Raw, passionate sex. Her marvel-white skin melting with his purple-grey, her flesh crushed by his muscular, easily hundred-sixty kilogram heavy body.
The image lasted for only one second, but it was enough for Mirona to feel the heat rising in her body and she used her hand to fan herself some fresh air.
It was an impossible dilemma she was in, since the praetor of settlement 7,459 was her enemy and natural competitor. Perhaps it was better, if Frascati lost this fight and her secret desire for him would vanish, if he was lying on the floor in defeat.
Mirona forced her thoughts on the opponent of her compatriot. Lord Vader was either very brave or very foolish, since he had dared to come alone into a settlement full of Ogradevi, who had to view every outsider as an enemy. However, saving the life of this young pilot had allowed him to get a foot into the door and Schatzivom Specks reaction to him hadn´t been to his disadvantage either. She took a quick look at the brawny elder, who was standing a few feet away from her. Did he know, what consequences his actions could have? For his settlement, for the entire race of the Ogradevi?
Lord Vaders arrival had presented an opportunity for the Ogradevi to leave the bounderies of their system behind them and the explenations from the pious elder had caused the current situation.
If Lord Vader was killed by Tersar Frascati his companions in their big ship might leave the system and never return. In that case the Ogradevi had missed a historical chance, perhaps their only chance.
Thinking about that possible consequence of the fight between Lord Vader and Tersar Frascati she felt the rage at the stupid elder boil inside her. It would be only just, if Lord Vaders shipmates destroyed Settlement 7,459 to avange him.
On the other side, if Lord Vader defeated Frascati a lot of things would possibly change. Thanks to this stupid prophecy, many of the common Ogradevi would be willing to accept the outsider with the blue eyes as their new leader.
Unfortunately new leaders had usually little use for members of the old elite and Mirona Abro would belong to this „old“ elite, if Vader won.
His chances weren´t bad. Lord Vader wasn´t as tall or as heavy as Tersar Frascati, but as far as Mirona could tell, he was a lot younger, than his opponent. Younger, but not careless.
Gnawing her teeth Mirona considered, that things couldn´t go on the way they had for the last millenia within their blasted system. Soon the last remaining resources would be consumed and then the real slaughter among the settlements would begin. And those who survived THIS war, if there were any survivors at all, would die in the following years. And that would be the end of the Ogradevi and their misery.
It wasn´t a prospect Mirona Abro was looking for and so she finally surrendered to the idea, that it would be better for her people, if Lord Vader won. Judged by his sweat-covered body, the long limbs and hard muscles and his overall performance so far, his chances weren´t bad. Lord Vaders ice-blue eyes and alien origins only made him more attractive and even if he defeated Tersar Frascati and the masses were willing to follow him, he would need the help of somebody, who knew the Ogradevi from within.
Mirona Abro only had to made sure, that she would be this somebody. She didn´t doubted, that she would succeed. She was a woman and Lucan Vader was a man and that was the only advantage over him, she would need. If she had learnt one thing during her ascent to the position of praetor it was how to use every available advantage. It was something every Ogradevi had to learn from the day of birth.
And if Lord Vaders physical appearence could be used as an indicator for his other qualities, Mirona Abro would even be able to get some pleasure from it.
Now, that she had made her decision the praetor of Settlement 7,687 licked her lips in anticipation, while admiring the firm rear of her new champion.

Great update m8. I loved Mirona Abro. Leaders sometimes have to make hard choices
I also liked the feeling of helplesness from our captian. I would be worried too.
As for the fight itself.. why doesn't Lucan use his forcepowers? Cause his opponent has them too? Not all the Ogradevi have them so i think it would be a major advantage..

I would think that Lucan just fancied the opportunity to kick someone around.
Also, great update.

Spike, you are closer to the truth.
As we will see later, Lucan likes a small brawl now and then. Besides that he is proud (or overconfident) enough to think, that he doesn´t need the force to defeat somebody, who is three times his own age.

"Mr. Pommeroy!"
"Well, here we are again, Misses Sophie ..."
The tale of Darth Vader´s Son
Examining his opponent Tersar Frascati tried to catch his breath without giving his adversary a clue about his true condition.
He had had his fair share of fights and duels during his ascent through the ranks and some of them had lasted as long and been as intense as the current fight.
Some had been even both.
But he had fought those battles, when he had been a lot younger.
Only his skill and experience had allowed
him to remain undefeated so far and even those weren´t going to save him, since his strenght was nearly exhausted.
Only his will-power keept him still on his feet.
The decision would be made within the next minutes.
---
Lucan Vader had troubles to hide the state of exhaustion he was in.
None of the kicks and blows of his opponent that had come through had been hard enough to cause serious damage or to knock him out, but Lucan´s entire body hurt like hell.
Tomorrow the bruises would be visible everywhere on his body.
Lucan was only glad, that they weren´t visible now. They would only encourage his opponent and the son of Darth Vader didn´t knew, if he would be able to defend himself against another one of the furios assaults of the praetor of settlement 7,459.
He would have never expected the fight to be that long or his opponent to have such physical strength.
Lucan had grown up in the belief, that his father had been the greatest warrior of all times and the most powerful man of the universe and he, as his son, would be equally powerful. Oh yes, there still had been the emperor, but Palpatine had been an old man, who had let others do the fighting. And as long as he could think Lucan Vader had considered his incredible physical strenght and speed as a natural or god-given privilege, making him superior to the ordinary beings even without the force.
Now he was forced tp admit, that this belief had been wrong.
Tersar Frascati was an incredible powerful opponent. If he had known sooner, he would possibly never agreed to this fight. On the other side an hour ago, he would have thought otherwise even with the knowledge he had now.
Of course Lucan could have used his forcepowers, but that would have been unfair. The values and morales of Darth Vader´s son differed perhaps greatly from those of the majority of sentinent beings, but he had some. And it wasn´t only a question of honour, but also one of pride.
If he couldn´t defeat a man the age of eighty standardyears on his own, Lucan would be better off, if he forgot everything about the conquest of the galaxy and settled down on a country-seat on an insuspicious world in the outer Rim.
Lucan knew he had to end this battle quickly and decided to change his tactics. It contained a certain risk, but that he had to take.
---
Schatzivon Speck watched the two combatants with growing concern. He would have never expected things to go that much out of hand.
Like Mirona Abro the brawny elder was worried for both of the opponents, but for totally different reasons.
A long time ago Schatzivon Speck had been a mentor to Parkas Vigeland, who had been Tersar Frascatis predecessor as praetor. The younger Ogradevi might not know about it and his opinions and ideas clashed often enough with those of Schatzivon, but despite that the older one cared for the current leader of Settlement 7,459 like a grandfather cared for his always trouble-causing grandchild.
Not that Schatzivon was familiar with the concept of grandchildren, since only few Ogradevi even got a chance to know their children.
As for Lord Vader ... . Well, there weren´t enough words for Schatzivon Speck to describe the life-time of hopes resting on the stranger. Even Frascatis explenations about the prophecy hadn´t changed that.
Specks thoughts returned to the events from only two hours ago.
---
"I´ll great you Lord Vader as the One, savior of the Ogradevi and emissary of the gods. After millenia of waiting you finally have come to us. Speak and your humble servant will obey. Finally the prophecy has come true."
Stunned silence filled the hangar. And while Lucan Vader tried to gather his thoughts, Tersar Frascati´s forehead was already clouded with anger. It had been meant as a sign of respect to allow the elder to accompany him and his collegue from Settlement 7,687, but for Schatzivon to take the initiative in such a way was totally improper. What angered Frascati more, even scared him was Schatzivons referance to this stupid prophecy.
Even if Frascati hadn´t know about the origins of this prophecy, if would have been hard to understand, why so many of his people believed in it. Perhaps that was something, that made a praetor different from the common Ogradevi.
„Don´t make a fool of yourself, Schatzivon.“ he muttered through gritted teeth. „So get on your feet. This man won´t be the savior you think him to be.“
„He is a man with blue eyes.“ stated Schatzivon. „And it is said, that the One will arrive in a time of need. Can you neglect, that this isn´t the case.“
Tersar Frascati´s face didn´t display the conflicting emotions, that run through his body.
A part of him viewed Schatzivon´s faith with envy, since the elder was still capable of it. At the same time he thought the brawny Ogradevi to be stupid to still harbour such believes after a life-time of experiences in this blasted system. And in a small corner of is mind he even wanted Schatzivon´s conviction to be real, wanted to belief, that one day somebody would show up and save their people from the situation they were in and ease the burden of him being resposible for a quadrillion beings.
But the praetor was too grounded in the hard necessities of reality and his office, to strong was his sense for his duties and responsibilities and his own devotion to power so it was simply impossible for him to accept this stranger as the expected savior.
The question was, how to make that clear to Schatzivon and the other Ogradevies, who were now coming together, wanting to know, why one of their elders was on his knees in front of a non-Ogradevi. To his great surprise Tersar´s arguement was supported by Lord Lucan Vader.
„I thank you for the faith you´re putting in me, but your leader is right. I´m certainly not the One you were expecting and i´ve never heard of this prophecy you´re referring to. So i´ll have to ask you, please, stand up.“
Schatzivon Speck rose from his knees. „Even if you don´t know about the prophecy, your words show you to be an honest and decent man. An imposter would have agreed and tried to use our faith in him to his advantage. Your behaviour confirms you are the man we are waiting for.“
Lucan resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He didn´t contradict Schatzivon out of honesty or because he was a nice guy. Darth Vader´s son simply didn´t knew all the facts about this prophecy and he had absolutely no clue what expectations were connected to the role of this mysterious savior. Perhaps the main participant of a cermony of sacrifice or something even a force-user like him couldn´t live up to.
As a young boy Lucan had read a lot of books and one story had always been of fascination to him.
It was the story of a space-traveller, who had been forced to land on a primitive world. The savages living there had attacked him and by coincidence he had survived an attack, that would have been lethal and didn´t even got a scratch. That had convinced the primitive inhabitans of the planet, that the traveller was some kind of divine being and they had made him into their ruler. For some years things went well. Under the leadership of the traveller the tribe was able to defeat its enemies and to become the dominant tribe of the area. Using his superior knowledge the traveller also managed to improve the living-conditions of his tribe and he was hailed even more as a divine being. But one day he grabbed a fruit from a tree and cut himself with a thorn. Seeing him bleed his primitive subjects realized him to be a mortal and killed him.
Lucan´s understading of the story´s moral then was influencing the way he acted now.
He would get the Ogradevi under his thumb and one day he would perhaps declare himself a god, if it would serve his goals, but according to his conditions and when he thought the time was right. And at the moment the time wasn´t right.
While he watched Tersar Frascati and Schatzivon argue the son of Darth Vader turned to the young pilot he had saved.
„What do you know about this prophecy?“ he wispered.
„Not much.“ repeated Sholter Roeg. „It is just some old story about a savior, who will mysteriously appear. It says he will bring us out of this system and avenge the crimes commited against us by the Republic and the Jedi. According to the legend this savior will have blue eyes. He will also be opposed by the ruling members of our species and will defeat them.“ Sholter Roeg shook his shoulders. „As i said, its just an old story, but many people believe in it. Especially the older ones.“
The way the young pilot said „older“ implied, that he actually meant „senile“, something that didn´t go unnoticed by Lucan Vader.
The next moment Darth Vader´s heir had to turn back to the other Ogradevi, who seemed to have come to a conclusion.
„I see you have informed yourself about this stupid legend.“ stated Tersar Frascati with a grim voice and an equally grim look directed at Sholter Roeg. The young pilot didn´t step back.
The praetor stepped closer until his face was only inches away from Lucan´s.
„Unfortunately there are many among us, who still believe in this kind of fairy-tales and since i can´t convince them with reason, i have to use a different approach.“ Tersar Frascati grinned darkly.
Lucan tried to remember, what he knew about this people and what he had just learned about this prophecy and knew immediately, where this was heading.
It was unbelievable.
Did this guy really dare to challange him?
What kind of being would fight a Sith-Lord on its own free will?
„You mean you want to fight me?“
It was still impossible to believe.
„Well, yes. Don´t worry. If you don´t try to hard, i´ll make it quick and easy. You´ll get a small headache and we can turn to the more imporatn matters of this meeting between our people.“
The grin on Tersar Frascati´s face was enough to infurate Lucan Vader. At the same time he felt Tersar Frascati to be a kindred spirit. So he showed an evil grin himself.
„Only in your dreams.“
Both men smiled at each other and in anticipation of the things to come. Oh yes, they already knew each other.
Ten minutes later their fight started.
Why is it, that men, no matter their species, always have to compare their di..s?
