I would like to beg to differ. I am unreasonable and I would like another post soon if at all possible. I'm going to have to start compiling a list of adjectives to describe how much I like this story.
I'll be like that erudite spider in "Charlotte's Web." Today's word: COMPELLING.
Keep it up. This stuff if sweet as Godiva chocolates. Perhaps even better.

Again I apologize for the brevity of this scene. This is part of a larger scene, but it gets broken up by a flashback. That's right eager readers, I'm using a flashback. So grab your hats and hang on.

“Mmm. I could get used to this,” Mara said as she snuggled closer to Luke. Curling up alongside her lover, she laid her head in the hollow beneath his shoulder and rested her hand on his chest. For a moment they just lay there, both exhausted and covered with sweat, relishing the experience they had just shared. It seemed a shame to end such a perfect moment, but Luke finally asked the question that had been bothering him all day.
“Mara, I’ve got to ask. Why did you announce your return by attacking me? I could have killed you.”
“You disappoint me Skywalker. You may be the most powerful man in the galaxy, but you don’t know thing one about women,” Mara said with mock anger. “Can’t a girl re-enact the way she met the love of her life without answering a lot of questions? I think a better question would be why you didn’t send a Star Destroyer to pick me up. I could have arrived on Coruscant in style.”
“You know I couldn’t have done that. I’d just ascended to the throne, and there was still a Regional Governor or two plotting to have me removed so they could rise to power. You have more enemies in the Empire than I do. Trumpeting your return to Coruscant by sending a Star Destroyer to escort you might have given some admiral a reason to back one of my former rivals.”
“Well then don’t pout about the way I introduce myself,” Mara instructed Luke as she gazed up into his eyes. “I doubt I hurt anything more than your pride.”

Hey, sorry to be so late dropping by, Herman, but would you believe I just found this story today (the new boards and I are not getting along well!)I just want to say that I love this story-- a Luke & Mara story, an AU, written by Herman Snerd, no way I could resist. Nice plot twists. I figured that Luke was the new Emperor, but I have to say that his, um, relationship with Mara took me by surprise. Looking forward to reading more.
