Wow. That this last post was so sweet. You never see a son bonding with his mom. And most of his concerns was about his mom getting hurt.
He must get his sense of caution from his dad.
More soon? I probably won't get to see it. I'll probably be off until tomorrow.

I'm sorry your computer messed up, JPS! I can't wait to read more!
I just posted again, but I realized that my boyfriend told me three hours ago that he was going to shop for records and he's still not back yet. I hope, for his sake, that he didn't do anything stupid like crash my car or get killed. Oh well, probably overreacting. He's probably just totally engrossed with his records and doesn't realize that he promised me breakfast when he got back! Men!!

My sister was making macaroni and cheese and threw a towel too close to the stove and the entire counter went up in flames in like 5 seconds. She screamed and I came running back inside w/ my brother and we had to get the fire exstinguisher and put it out

Ta dah! At long last, after battling the evil that is Microsoft Windows, I give you...the post!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It's so beautiful out here," Leia Solo said.
Her brother nodded. "Yes, it is, isn't it?"
The Skywalker twins were walking along the stone terrace overlooking the garden, and beyond that, the sparkling lake and the mountains rising behind it. Having grown up on Tatooine, Luke had seen very little water until after joining the Rebellion. Even after all these years, whenever he saw so much of it at once, saw the ripples flicker across the smooth surface, it amazed him.
Picking up on his thoughts, Leia smiled and leaned against the balustrade, staring out at the breathtaking view. "Sometimes I forget that we were raised in two different worlds. I sometimes take the beauty of something as simple as water for granted, but not you. You always appreciate everything."
Luke smiled. "Perhaps that's because I'm older and wiser."
His sister swatted him playfully. "You're only ten minutes older, brother dear. I'm sure you learned so much during those few minutes."
Luke shrugged. "I'm the one who's a Jedi Master, remember?"
Leia smirked. "And I'm the one who was Chief-of-State of the entire New Republic, remember that?"
"I seem to recall hearing something about that," Luke said with a grin, and the twins turned their attention back to the shimmering lake, enjoying the peaceful silence that they could only find when they were together. Maybe this place had something to do with it, as well. It had been their parents' place, the spot where they were married all those years ago after the Battle of Genosis.
For Luke, knowing who his parents were, knowing where they came from- where he came from- gave him the serenity he had always longed for. It made him feel whole, complete. He knew who his parents were, he knew who his twin sister was. He had a wife and a son. He had a brother-in-law who was also one of his most beloved friends. He had a niece and nephew who were grown with children of their own. He had the Jedi Order, reestablished and flourishing. He had the Force.
For the first time in his life, Luke Skywalker was truly content.
That struck him as strange, with the threat of another Yuuzhan Vong invasion looming on the horizon.
And yet Luke wasn't afraid. He trusted the Force, and knew it would not fail them. The Jedi had beaten the Yuuzhan Vong once before, they would do it again if necessary. And they would do it with the Force.
"I've often wondered what our parents would think," Leia said softly. Luke looked at her in surprise, but found her gazing out at the lake, her dark eyes sad. He took a moment to study her, to really look at his twin. She was still incredibly beautiful, her long dark hair tinged with sweeps of soft gray, pulled back into a simple but elegant twist at the nape of her neck. Laugh lines gave her mouth and eyes definition, and the simple white gown she wore made her skin look soft and creamy. She was even more beautiful, in Luke's opinion, than she had been in her youth.
Of course, his opinion was a little biased, being her twin brother.
"How so?" he asked.
Leia shrugged. "I wondered what our mother would think when I married Han, I wished she had been there to see it. When I gave birth to the twins, I wondered if it was just as painful for her to deliver us, or maybe more since she didn't have the Force to ease her pain. Watching the children grow up, I've often wondered how our lives would be different if you and I had been raised together, had been brought up with our parents, as a family."
"As have I," Luke agreed quietly. "When Jacen and Jaina were younger, I would look at them and see how they depended on one another so fiercely, how they finished one another's thoughts and sentences-"
"And you wondered if we would have been like that, too?" Leia finished knowingly. She smiled sadly. "We'll never know, but I like to think that would have."
"So do I," Luke replied.
"Ever since Vergere revealed our past," Leia said. "I've always wondered how our mother would have dealt with the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. On the political front, I mean. I wondered if maybe she wouldn't have done better than I did."
"I've wondered the same thing about the Old Order," Luke confessed. "I worried that they would have done things better, faster, with less death and destruction along the way." He smiled ruefully and shook his head "if Master Yoda was here now, he would smack us both with that awful little cane of his."
"I wish I had gotten to meet him," Leia said.
"So do I," Luke replied, a wistful smile creeping onto his lips. "I wish you'd gotten to meet Ben, too. I think you would have liked him. He certainly seemed to think a great deal of you." He grinned suddenly as a memory nearly half a century old flooded his mind.
"What?" Leia asked, sensing his nostalgic mood. "What is it?"
"I was just remembering the first time I met Ben," Luke answered. "When Artoo brought up the hologram message you'd encoded in his memory banks. Ben looked from your image back to me then back to your image, and he was smiling knowingly. I never understood why, but I do now. It must have been quite the moment for him, seeing the two children of Anakin Skywalker both before him at the same time after so long."
Leia smiled. "Then imagine how he felt on the Death Star. He was able to die after reuniting us at last."
Luke nodded. "I think that might have been part of why he was so much at peace at that moment. He knew I would train as a Jedi, he knew we would fight the Emperor, and he had been able to bring us back to one another after separating us at birth."
Leia reached over and squeezed his hand. "Just imagine how Vader's face would have looked at that moment if he had only known who we were." Her eyes twinkled. "Thwarted by his own children."
"He was proud of us," Luke smiled. "In the end, he was proud that we had beaten him."
"I know," Leia said softly.
They stood in silence for a long moment, then Luke said, "You're thinking about our parents because of Jaina, aren't you?"
Leia nodded silently. "I know she's not a child anymore, she's got children of her own. I'm a grandmother. But it's hard to watch her throw herself into danger like she does."
"We were the same way," Luke reminded her.
"Were?" Leia smirked. "Some of us still are, Luke Skywalker." She sighed, turning all the way to face him, pressing her back against the balustrade. "It made me wonder what it would have been like for our mother to watch us. What it must have been like for our father, in the moment he realized that we were his children."
"I imagine he was less than pleased to find his own daughter had been in his grasp on the Death Star," Luke said. "And he hadn't even known."
Leia nodded. "That, too. But I think, some part of him at least, must have been pained, knowing how much we had been through, so much of it at his own hands." Luke didn't need the Force to know she was thinking about her torture aboard the Death Star. "I've caused Jaina pain, too, whether I meant to or not. I caused her pain by being who I am."
"And you fear her children may suffer for who she is, too?" Luke asked knowingly.
"The Yuuzhan Vong fear Jaina," Leia replied. "They believe her to be Yun-Harla. You and I know that she is not. She is merely a Jedi, the granddaughter of the Chosen One. That's why she seems so powerful to them, because she is powerful, just not in the way they believe her to be."
"You worry for Padme and Anakin if her ruse is uncovered?" Luke raised an eyebrow.
"Of course I do," Leia answered. "And I know you do, too, so don't bother pretending that you're the perfectly calm and assured Jedi Master, I know better. I didn't inherit my looks from being your twin, you know."
Luke grinned. No, she certainly hadn't. Leia had been blessed with the enchanting dark features that she shared with their mother, while Luke had been born with the sandy blond hair and ice blue eyes of Anakin Skywalker. For twins, they looked as different as night and day. But only in those aspects. People often said how much they looked alike, and Luke could see it when he looked for it. There was no denying that they were siblings. He wondered how no one had noticed it when they were back in the Rebellion.
"I'm sure they'll be fine," he assured her. "All of them. Jaina is more capable than either of us likes to admit, and Jacen doesn't seem to attract as much trouble as she does."
"I have no idea where he got that from," Leia said. "Certainly not from his father."
"Or his mother's family," Luke grinned. "We probably hold the galaxy's record for the family that gets into the most trouble."
"At least we do something together," Leia retorted with a wry smile.
Chuckling, Luke draped his arm around his sister's shoulder. "And we do it like no other family ever could."
