I'm glad to see a update and I would have replied sooner but I got the stomach flu and just now am I getting over it.
Well I must say I like Nat's idea on taking Anakin away so there won't be a Vader the Jedi have to deal with.
But no Luke or Leia? I just don't buy that I'm betting Nat's going to have them.
Great part.

As for betting on the next coarse of this fic-you'll just have to wait and see.

Sorry I disappeared again, but this time my comp is to blame. My power supply blew and due to lack of free time it took me almost 6 weks to repair it.
Then I had to sort and install about 100 MB of data that I'd just dumped into the drive.
But all this while I have been working on "Knight of Darkness' I must've written and rejected about 7 posts up until now. I'm halfwave throught the eight rewrite and hoping that my personal editor (me) passes it when I finish it.
I'm also halfway through a post for this fic.

I'm back. (With my third rewrite of the post.) I just hope its consistent with the rest of the fic. One tends to forget details when one hasn't updated or reread ones fic since several months. But hre its-Anakin headaches.
*******************************************************
Anakin stared at the tireless traffic that crisscrossed across the city skyline, never sleeping, never resting; somehow, the endless lines reflected his own restlessness. Was there ever an end to problems? Suddenly he felt tired and inexplicably exhausted he just wanted to lie down and forget everything else.
Perhaps some day he would, he would leave the order and take control of his life-A life with his wife and future children. But that was all in the future, he had much to before he could get anywhere near that dream.
First he had to convince Nat to stay here in his time and galaxy, and forget about her family-a difficult task made more difficult by the fact that he’d made promises to her. And even if she did opt to stay here there was the immediate problem of accommodations and supporting his family.
True, the Jedi Order met all the needs of individual Jedi and provided for their meals and accommodations, their medical care and general well being from the time they entered the temple till death. But Jedi were not paid-at least not regular wages that could sufficiently support even a small family- and since having families wasn’t a Jedi norm the Order did not make special provisions for the rare cases that did cropped up.
Anakin sighed heavily, thinking about his last meeting with the Jedi council. He had asked them for just that, a special provision for him concerning accommodations for his wife. When they had refused he had offered to give his child to the temple if she was force sensitive-even though he hadn’t discussed that with his wife.
Sure, the people of this galaxy were mostly honored when their child was chosen for Jedi training but he didn’t know how she’d react and in all this running about from Coruscant to Theed and umpteen missions in between he’d never had a chance to discuss the future of their child-But as it so happened the council had not been moved.
“Naturally we will accept the child, Mace Windu hadexplained but there are some rules; rules that cannot be changed or broken.” Anakin had left disappointed and helmed in more than ever with the burden of his burgeoning problems.
So he’d come to the Senate Building in a very sour and hopeless mood. Palpatine was his last hope to give him temporary accommodations till he was able to somehow support his family himself. But there were a couple of things he had to attend to first. Amidala’s killers-he couldn’t rest. Day and night the rage burned inside him, thinking of those murderers eating, drinking and enjoying life while the kindest of souls that was Senator Padmé had been robbed of her’s, least he could do was bring her killers to justice. And there was still the question of his trials. Anakin felt that the council would be more accommodating after he became a Jedi Knight.
The door behind him opened. A large animated group of humans and non-humans exited from Palpatine’s office. Anakin waited for Palpatine’s aid to invite him in before he went inside.
He was relieved to find the Chancellor sitting alone at his spacious desk.
“Welcome, Anakin.” The chancellor said in his usual calm and soothing voice, which immediately set Anakin’s agitated mind at peace.
Anakin bowed his head in Jedi greeting.
“What can I do for you?” Palpatine said, indicating the chair in front of his desk. Anakin sat down beaming. This man always managed to put him at ease. He was just another Padawan but Palpatine always made him feel important and special. He wondered for the hundredth time why Natalie was so wary of him, considering the fact that she’d just met him once or twice. Anakin had tried to reason with her that Palpatine was the kindest man in the universe but she’d stuck to her own arguments. Women were so unreasonable sometimes, he thought.
“What would you like to drink?” Palpatine offered with a broad smile.
“Oh! I don’t want to waste your time…” Anakin started but Palpatine held up his hand. “You are a dear friend and I always have time for friends, he said with a kind smile. “Would you like some cold Cavey juice?”
“Thank you !” Anakin said with a wide grin. No longer was he the irascible difficult boy that Obi-Wan had been dealingl with the past few months.
“So what can I do for you!” Palpatine asked.
Anakin mumbled, suddenly feeling very stupid. It seemed foolish to present his petty domestic problems to the ruling head of the republic, who, had millions and millions of problem filled planets to think about. His problem seemed suddenly so trivial. He thought about changing his story and pretending to be there on a casual visit.
But Palpatine saw the boy hesitate. “Come, come, young man, tell me. I will to help no matter how big or small you problem, you can tell me.”
“Anakin suddenly lost his voice. “Ah..uh!” My wife Nat, the er… temporary Queen of Naboo is scheduled to officially step down from her office…” He gulped.
“ So?” Palpatine asked bending forward.
“Er uhm…she’ll also be delivering her baby in a about five months,” Anakin stuttered, his cheeks turning red, he wanted to kick himself for not thinking about family planning and all that when he didn’t even have a house or a paying job. He felt so stupid.
“That’s good news,” Palpatine said with a wide grin, “You must be very excited.”
Anakin gave a sheepish smile and began to squirm uncomfortably in his chair. “ I would like to bring her to Coruscant so that we have more time together but the Jedi council has refused to accommodate her. I was thinking…”
“Anakin, Anakin! You know you shouldn’t worry about such trivial matters. You are like a son to me and Natalie is like my own daughter in-law. My own home is always open to both of you…”
“No! I…” Anakin jumped in rather quickly so that the Chancellor stopped to scrutinize him, his smile wavered for just s moment then it lit back. “ Think nothing of it young man, If you prefer, I will arrange for a small apartment whenever you asked for it.
Anakin’s face lit with gratitude. One problem solved.
Anything else?”
Anakin’s head jerked up. How did he do it? It was almost like the man could read his mind and still Anakin did not feel the force around him nor the weight of a Jedi mind probing his. But somehow Palpatine always guessed what was on his mind. It had happened many times before. He knew that some non-force users had what they called ‘intuition’ and Palpatine was probably one of them.
“Your Excellency, I would like to handle the case of Amidala’s murderers but the Council thinks that it is not my place to say who should take up which mission nor even for us to decide on a particular mission. Since missions are decided by the senate. I’d like very much to catch Amidala’s murderers and bring them to justice with my own lightsaber.
Palpatine sat back for a moment and seemed to think. Then he spoke. “Senator Amidala was a valued member of this institution, there is no doubt that those who deprived the galaxy of this brave soul must be brought to justice. But you know that her death has not been publicized yet.” He swung his spacious chair the side, his face cutting a sharp profile against the bright afternoon outside. The man had aged considerably Anakin noticed. “As long as your wife is on the scene we very well cannot announce the death of the Queen she’s substituting for.
“I was thinking of a secret mission, your …”
But Palpatine shook his head. “This is getting very complicated. I would think the Jedi would have thought of a fall back plan.”
We did have a plan, my Lord, but… “ Anakin put in hesitantly. The chancellor looked up at him enquiringly.
“According to our original plan Natalie was supposed to leave for her own planet.” He paused, struggling for expression. “At the time it seemed the right thing, I promised her I’d take her back myself…”
“Only now you don’t want to let her go.” Palpatine finished for him.
Anakin nodded as he stared at his boots under the table. “I’ve grown much too attached to her, and there’s the baby. They’re all I have, my whole family.” Anakin looked up distraught, at a loss for words.
“I assume you have no intention of accompanying her back to Earth.” Palpatine stated.
“I thought about that too” Anakin said,” but…” he shook his head vehemently, “that’s just not possible, now that I think about it, no! I promised my mother I would be a Jedi Knight some day and that I would serve the galaxy. I can’t just drop every thing and leave. I have my commitment to the Order and what about Obi-Wan, he didn’t waste ten years of his life to see me go to a planet where the Jedi are unknown, where people who wield such powers are labeled as magicians and wizards. Perpetrators of evil. I would most likely have to hide my hard earned skills and hence will not be of any use to Earth, backward as it is.”
“I agree,” Palpatine said. “You, my boy are one of the finest Jedi’s in the galaxy and I for see a great future for you. A very great future. It would be a terrible loss not only for the Jedi Order but for the whole galaxy if you left now.”
“I should hope it won’t come to that,” Anakin answered smiling, blushing slightly from the complements the Chancellor was showering upon him. “With an apartment of our own here on Coruscant I will be able to convince her to stay, a little longer at least. If I can hold her back long enough she might get used to living here and then even if she does go back she may find life on Earth too primitive for her taste. I hope.”
He knew he was generalizing; it wasn’t like she was a slave or something back on Earth. He himself had no stomach to return to Tatooine’s crude life, not even for a visit. Whereas Coruscant was the center of the Galaxy, a place he’d made his home and nurtured his hopes. Tatooine was furthest from the center; a place where he’d lost all he had. Besides she had a caring family back home while he had no one waiting for him back on Tatooine.
The desk holo on the desk suddenly lit up and a figure announced the next visitor on the Chancellors list. Anakin stood up and thanked the Chancellor profusely. He was glad for the benevolence of this man, for he had always helped him when all others had failed him.
Someday, he promised himself, he would return the Chancellor favors. All of them, he thought as he strode confidently out of the Senate Building.
