Thank you.

The hilt pieces are done. I just need to make one more heat sink, drill and tap some holes, do some steel epoxy-ing and buffing and then assemble it.

Here is a CG hilt I designed. Pretty simple, but I like it. I also had it machined into a real hilt, but I don't have pictures of it yet.

That looks sweet. Which program did you use for it?

Can't wait to see some pictures of the machined version.

Kaat, I used 3ds max to model and render it. I'll try to take some pictures of the real thing. However, it's buried somewhere in my closet, so it might take a while to find.

Hey PixelMagic, if you haven't already, you should send that to http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/ or http://www.lucasforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=324 so they can implement that into a mod for both KOTORs or if you have an account you could do it. that's a pretty sweet hilt. I'd offer to do it, but I'm too much of a tard to understand the UVW mapping. doh!

Hey guys, it's tool time. Nah, I've got a question... I am in a bad situation that those of you who are more into that building stuff than I am have probably already encountered:

I've got an aluminium tube and a thinner wooden stick. I wanted to place the stick inside of the tube, so I chose one that fits the whole... kinda well. So, I wanted to see how easily I can get the stick into the tube to find out if I need to grind away something from the wooden stick or not. Well, guess what: I have screwed my wood like a few inches into the tube and can't get it out anymore (or further into the alu tube). Any ideas how I can get it out again? I thought about heating the tube, but... dunno.

Any helpful advice would be great.

* Forget it, problem solved.

Put a thinner dowel into the other end of the aluminum tube, a dowel that slides in and out easily. Then holding the saber upright, place the bottom of the new, thinner dowel against the ground. Lift the handle upwards until the thinner dowel is only inserted into the hilt about 1/4 of an inch then ram the hilt downwards.

Another option would be to clamp the dowel in a bench mounted vise and twist the aluminum tube with all your might.

Edit: *sigh* If I had only waited one minute longer I wouldn't have made this post.

I solved the problem already. Tongs and screwing works wonders.

Your first idea would not have helped me anyway. Because I already had that problem before, so I cut the wood and tried to insert it from the other side. happy
