Wow, that sounds great. So what do we need designs for?
- The Droid
- The smuggler's ship
- The bounty hunter's ship
- The bounty hunter itself (unless we go with an established sort of design, such as Mando)

He might be joining my VFX crew and doing some matte paintings aswell, but right now, he's working on the droid. I've given him the URL's for this and the script, so he can get a better idea about how things should look. He should be able to have it ready by monday/tuesday. After that, let me know what needs to be done, and I'll pass the word along and give him deadlines.
Also, if there's anyone interested in working with vfx on this thing, let me know. As far as my knowledge goes, I'm the VFX supervisor, and it's never to early to assemble a team. (not that my currenct one isn't good, it's just grand enough:P)

You are also going to have to make greeble droids that may be on screen for just a few seconds. In the prequel star wars movies we can see just how many 3d models fill up the screen - for just a few moments. They can of course, be re-used later on or with different colour schemes.

I like the notion. In addition to Superman Returns, it hearkens back to the good ol' days of A Question of Faith.
Plus, we can then skip over the "traditional" pan down/flyby/cut to planet surface and get right to the story.
If not that, then we could also follow the style of IMPS: The Relentless.

eeehhhhhh..... 
I think we should stick to the crawl. The thing is, if it's done right, it will look good... plus the superman title's sequence has been used a lot too. The crawl explains everything that has happened up to the very beginning of the movie.... (more or less, but still)... so we want people to know what is going on. Just my little opinion.

I still have some crawl surgery which I will sit down to do when I integrate JedSith's fixes to Part One and the new Part Two into the master copy.

There are some other elements of the opening minutes of the canon productions that are a bit tiresome and somewhat pretentious in fan-films, like the lucasfilm logo and the MPAA rating screen.
If you leave off enough of the signature elements of the formula, this may as well be an all-original production. The crawl is an, if not the only, essential part of that formula; it allows the action to begin without further exposition.
I vote to keep it, with the proper surgical operations, of course.

I wasn't talking about the Superman text flying through space sequence, but the part before they show Krypton blowing up, right at the beginning of Superman Returns.
Personally, I'm in favour of dropping the crawl, but keeping "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....". I think every Star Wars movie should have that but that the crawl should at most, only appear in movies that will have sequels or prequels. After all that's kind of the point of the crawl, to explain what's been going on since the last time you saw the characters and locations etc.

Which told the events prior to the series.
Clone Wars doesn't have a crawl...and that's set between the movies, and this is too...kinda...maybe.

By the setting, yes, you can tell you're on Naboo, but there is no way to know what time frame you're in, how the economy has changed, or what sort of plight the whole citizenry is in without a crawl, unless we want to include a whole lot of clumsy expository dialogue that people who know what's going on because they live there would never say to each other.
