Playing Taryn (the brunette Jedi), I have to say it has been one of the biggest thrills of my life! My husband and I can't thank Shane, Dawn, and the rest of the gang enough for giving us this once-of-a-lifetime opportunity!!

That being said, I think that the comments on the acting in general, are probably a little premature. The CG speaks for itself. It's there in front of you, and what you see is what you get. The talent is there, and it can't be denied. The acting, on the other hand, is being seen out of context, and in very small snippets, without the background of why a particular line is being delivered and what is motivating the charactor to say it. It's introduced in such a manor to make you want to see the work in full. To make you wonder what the charactors are about, and what drives them. I think the finished product should make all the elements come together.

Meanwhile, you CG guys ROCK!! I am in complete awe of your talent. Keep up the fantastic work!!

Well, Gina, I hope the acting does stand out when we all (and I mean all) of us download it. I agree that this trailer should instill in us a desire to see this feature; however, regardless of how stellar the acting is, right now, our impressions from the trailer aren't very high (well, for me anyway).

I am hopeful that the female characters are strong in personality and acting, something woefully missing in fan films. And I hope you're correct about the opinions about the acting are premature. We'll just have to wait a long, long, hard, dragging on and on whole year before we see this movie.

From what I've seen, you do a fairly good job.

Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

EDIT:

Once in a lifetime? What? No sequel? silly

True. As I said, the film will speak for itself as a whole when it's released.

Once in a lifetime? What? No sequel?

LOL Sams,
Thanks for the positive feedback (though, I wasn't fishing for compliments wink ) As for a sequel???...I'm game!

Seroiusly, though, I just felt that some of the comments needed to be addressed.

This is true, and there is little fear of that from the footage I have seen, so I shouldn't worry too much Crunchy.
btw, when do we get to see some of that film you guys are working on? - havent seen much progress on your site lately? - still at it?

{Seroiusly, though, I just felt that some of the comments needed to be addressed.}

Gina - I agree, and for what it's worth, I think the elements I have seen of your performances thus far have been very impressive - your character portrayal is very strong and emotive IMO! wink

who me? I didn't think anyone other than SamS cared about our film happy We are still at it, every week, all of the editing is done, most of the models are complete and we are trying to piece this puzzle together. I haven't updated the site in a while because there were no BIG updates, we are doing some animatics and retouching some of the footage and models, but like Shane, we still need people to help...hope to have another teaser out by summer time, because I felt that instead of throwing together a trailer, that we should really just put all our effort into getting this thing completed.

but I don't want to bogart the thread happy

Thanks for your interest though! happy

I agree that effects can't make a film (example is Hulk, a very fun movie, with totally awesome effects, but even though the effects were great, it wasn't a great movie, a fun movie, but not great, IMHO)
What bugs me is when a movie has a bunch of effects, and people say the movie is bad because of it. (ex: I heard TONS of people say this about AOTC, not saying they're wrong, just saying they said it) They say stuff like, they should have spent more time on the script and less on the effects, as if there were some magic balance. Script is pre, CG is post, I don't think they really ever compete compete.

Always looking for a place to put that gripe. happy

Yes ... however, these days scripts are written with the CGI in mind. I have little doubt that George Lucas is pretty confident that he can write anything he wants and know that his ILM artists will be able to create it digitally. So, in today's day and age, your statement is pretty much moot.

I don't see Revelations being anything close to an "overdone" FanFilm in terms of CGI effects and in terms of what I have seen thus far in the trailers. (Yes, IMHO, AOTC was way overdone and way too "modernized" (i.e. DAX's Diner ... can you say "Mel ... kiss my grits??)) wink

Instead of getting Jonathan Hales to co-write the script, GL should have asked John Hughes. A teen romance set in space would be right up his alley.

I saw the clip about making Episode III where the sets were being built, the costumes being made and models being created, but GL still hadn't finished Draft 1 of his script. Would I be out of line to think that's a reckless way to make a movie?

Not to get too far off-topic, but there are those who loved the OT for what it was back in the day...cheesy effects and all. And then there are those who love all the modern and possibly overdone CGI effects.

I so happened to love AOTC, putting it #1 on my list of favorite Star Wars movies with ESTB a close 2nd. If only the Hoth battle could have been bigger like AOTC.

But that's just how things have changed over the years. Either people like it or they don't. Many Star Wars fans these days don't much care for the Prequels. I'm not one of those fans. I'm still a kid at heart and I think the Prequels are awesome for what they are. There's not so much a group dynamic, as there are more one on one relationships.

I have uploaded a new compressed version of the Revelations Trailer, and let me say a big thanks to Jeremy West for turning us on to the Sorenson Sqeeze compression solution!

I recommend it for others as well, and thanks Jeremy for helping us to find a great tool that gets the job done.

So... the Revelations trailer is better compressed, is a wee bit smaller in file size, and I even ajusted the emperor clip to make him a bit thinner (no further comments on this) as I am very pleased with the work spatcave.com did for us, and I felt it was far better than just a guy in a dark hood pulled over his head, or me just filming the emperor's back. I even tweaked the girls fight a touch (which to me I felt the girls did a stellar job... their fight is not easy by far) We did what we could with what we had, on all aspects, and we are very pleased and proud with what has been achieved on Revelations.

Thanks for everyones support. We appreciate it.

Nice job on speeding up the lightsaber fights, too! Much better! It looks fast without actually looking like you sped up the footage.
