RE: Star Wars: Revelations Trailer
Yeah, that trailer was pretty cool, I love that the cars keep moving, AND that Coruscant has different style buildings and so on, it really does add a more distinctive look to it. And the colour palette does remind me more of Andromeda, Payback, or even Minority Report than it does of Star Wars. And count me in on adding some hard rock in there. The detail in the models is really quite impressive. I am totally inspired now.

an easter egg for geeks to spot, i'm sure!
As for the trailer - I saw the first one ages ago and was impressed, this one shows off the CGI much more and, on the whole, I love it.
there's a couple of things I feel I must comment on though:
The TIE fighter that blows up: The textures just seemed too "clean", too shiny for a TIE, and aslo - after it blows up, there's a nut that flys out of the explosion that looks horrible - it's far too obvious, the parts flying out need to be "dirtier", no way is there gonna be a completely clean, non-cracked anything coming out of that bang!
The AT-ST that creeps past the landing ship at about 1'30" seems to have a bit of a limp
Palpy could easily be fixed by streching his head a bit, his face is too round I think, that's the only problem I had with him.
The window is OK once you work out it's already cracked prior to them jumping out, but i think again, it's a little too "clean" and "shiny".
LOVE the tremor on the "Revelations" title at the end, the fact that you've actually thought about depth of field with the CG composites and the "heat waves" you see every so often.
There's a lot more good things i could say about the trailer, but they've pretty much already been covered. i'm only pointing out the slightly niggling (for want of a better word) things.
anyway,

I noticed the tremor on the Revelations trailer at the end too. I didn't really consider it worth mentioning but it still looked like it was coming from a "film reel" which was cool. A nice little extra touch.
Yeah, Palpy's face was a little bloated/wide I think. As Nick was saying, maybe you could thin out his face a little by stretching him out?

about the Viper LOL .. it is in fact an easter egg
our CG team has a good sense of humor, and we all love scifi and it makes it fun. there are a few throught the film..but you have to look.. for all your frame by frame watchers.. you know who you are
It's all about having some fun after you have been modeling and rendering for months on the same scene. The artist (Zafer Mustafa) who did all the work on the street scene, alley, droid eye, and exterior bar (just to name a few) is one hell of a talent, and love his humor.. the viper was a fun egg, and I had to show it in the trailer
Thanks for the positive feedback gang, and glad to hear you enjoy Revelations. We do what we can with what we have. We still have a lot of work to do and currently looking to bring in more talented CG members to bang it out.

Great trailer! Only one part of it really sucked big-time, though......
"SPRING 2005"
As for the use of colors, I sort of thought that they fit in well with the colors Lucas used in the carbon freezing chamber on Cloud City in TESB. I like the use of these colors in Revelations. It gives the impression that we're seeing a party of the SW galaxy that we haven't seen before.

RE: Star Wars: Revelations Trailer
Tydirum...Revelations...it's an interesting comparison. The two are a bit different cinematography wise. And locations are quite different as is the make up of the type of characters. Tydirum definitely has the look and feel of ROTJ. But Revelations has a much newer feel to it. I'm not sure they are comparable but both do look to be quite dramatic in their scope.
Kinda like they are each on the top level of two different ladders.

RE: Star Wars: Revelations Trailer
Looks great! I am not going to nitpick about sabers or any other minor crapola, that really should NOT be nitpicked, but I do have ONE problem: The Emporer. He looks, well, like that crappy Yoda puppet from Episode One. I would HIGHLY suggest redoing that scene. The Emporer looks fat and pudgy. A few people have said that the way the Emporer looks does not bother them and that's good for them, but I would hate for Revelations to come out and all anyone can say is "Great Movie, but that Emporer....." Everything in the trailer looked great, but when the Emporer comes on I was like "Yikes!" Once again, everything in the movie seems consistent, except that Emporer shot, please redo it.

RE: Star Wars: Revelations Trailer
Ok, so I just watched the trailer twice and was blown away both times by the enormity of it all. The ships were amazing. I loved that one ship that kind of folds up as it lands. That was sweet! Whoever came up with that model deserves a day at the massage parlor with the happy ending.
I think a lot of the problems I had with the trailer are due to them being out of context. I may end up changing my views on some of the complaints I am about to say once I see the whole thing.
GREAT JOB!!
However, there are a few issues that tripped me up.
First, the shot where the guy is walking down some stairs in a cave or something and he is holding a light. That scene looked like vacation video of some friends exploring some caverns. Nothing about that scene looked like a galaxy far far away. Maybe in context with the full movie it will look ok, but in that trailer it looked out of place to me.
Second, the scene where there is a girl dancing in a holo-projector or whatever it was. The moves are not smooth enough and the whole thing is too fast. As if she is a bad dancer dancing to some techo music that only she can hear. Slow it down, smooth it out.
And lastly, Cruella De Vil was VERY overacted. Just her alone made me want to hit the mute button. The females are just horrible when compared to the male actors. They are still above average for fanfilms but the guys, and one guy in particular, are a lot better.
Direct comparison: Female" I want some answers." Male"I don't really care WHAT you want."
Worst line delivered "The artifact is the priority" Shudder..
Best visual effect for me: The guy shooting the rope up the camera lens. THAT was AWESOME!!

Looks like we will have Revelations and BA2 fighting it out in Spring of 2005. I hope the BA2 crew is up to it. And I heard we may see Tydirium this summer even.
