Philosophical bullocks was needed to get a grade wink But thanks, that's me tongue Unless you meant Craig (playing Ishmael), who had two monologues, both of which are more PBS (Philosophical Bull... shoot) than mine, but he is a fair actor otherwise. When he's not senselessly breaking out in laughter and screwing up every other shot.

It worked ok. In the context to the Star Wars universe maybe The Force should have replaced God (or maybe mentioned as if they were the same thing, in that character's mind) but other than that the writing was fine.

I was considering it, but since it was made for the class first and a web release second, God was more appropriate as a direct carry-over from the novel. Also, any more in-depth for the Star Wars philosophy and I risked losing non-SW fans in the class.

Also, Ishmael refers to how God made us the way we are, where the Force doesn't make people, so a simple substitution would be inaccurate.

Well, not to switch this into a philosophy debate but creation of a person is not a single event at conception, it’s a process. You say that God initially forms us but the Force doesn’t, and I won’t argue that point. The similarity between the two though is that the Force, God and/or Fate are that they all throw stuff in out path that shape whom we become. (God sets down the clay while the Universe warms the kiln.) Ahab, for example would not have been a driven maniac without the loss of his hand. He’d still be driven though, because that is an inherent part of his nature, but the focus would be something else.

Of course, the simultaneously depressing and uplifting fact this brings to mind is that we are all gloriously unfinished beings. At least good screenplays, if nothing else. thinking

Finally got a chance to watch this. Yay!

Cool school project, kudos for pulling it off. Note to self: see if you can film any projects next year. I especially liked that you used whatever happened to be around. Sure a room can be a spaceship! wink

I've never even read the coles notes of Moby Dick and I saw the movie a really long time ago so I can't really comment on the parallels, but it all seemed to add up to me. Maybe I should read the book :P

Lightsabers looked good too.

I hope you get a good mark

Now all we have to do is start pre-production work on the musical follow up Phantom of the Order.
