Is that a floppy drive?

Damn. I haven't seen one of those in ages.

Are you crazy? Every computer needs a floppy drive! If not for practical then for fashion reasons.

minimal. yes. I can see that. I mean, I have a pc up to date and a camcorder, but besides from topnotch software, that's all. I can see your setup is VERY minimal wink

My desktop has a floppy drive, but that's just because they threw it in for free. I think they were trying to get rid of them.

I don't know why everyone is so negative. I actually have a pretty good feeling about this.

Like a few others here, I edit films and television for a living, so for that, it's pretty bare-bones compared to the full-blown systems at the various post houses I do some gigs in. Plus, I don't have a whole lot of space in my NYC apartment (you can pretty much tell that every nook and cranny is basically packed with gear...can you tell I'm single? :P). Looking to start renting some office/studio space sometime this year. I friggin' HATE computers!

It's actually not that big...a regular-ish-sized studio apt @ around 475 sq. ft. in NYC's Gramercy area. The floor plan makes it look more spacious than it is...as all the stuff takes up a lot of space....add in a few guitars, amps and some equipment, plus chairs and what have you...it can be a tight squeeze. The patio is shared between me and the adjacent apt. I'm actually getting a new synthesizer, but I have absolutely no idea where I'm going to put it....might have to stow it away (yeah right...where, under the couch?) and just mount it when I need it. I really don't like working out of my place, though...the whole 'don't $#!@ where you eat'....that's why I'm looking into office/studio space.

Patio in Gramercy? That's nice, man. What floor are you on, and what direction do you face?

3rd Floor, facing South West...they are rebuilding the Gramercy Hotel bigger and taller (nice having construction right outside my window when I'm trying to work!), so whatever minimal view there was is now pretty-much blocked by nearby buildings, which also cuts some of the direct sunlight until about 3 pm. Anyway...again, I'm getting real short on space. I was thinking of putting my bed on a loft so that I could store more gear, but it's more of a hassle, and I might be selling or subletting this place in a few years if something better opens up, or if I end up in LA.

Look...Jennifer Lopez came by the other day when I made this room layout. Can you pick her out? I had her stand in one of the corners, and it really helped tame some of the bass peaks at around 40Hz.
