DMP - how can you work with that window right behind you? I had to cover mine up because the glare was too much. wink

LCD > your setup. Actually, the only time I used my PC was after dark anyway, so it wasn't a problem. But you're right, the position of the desk didn't last me more than 4 days, and I moved it Friday night. I just pushed the desk up against the wall with the window so I've got all my furniture on one side of the room, leaving plenty of room for extra chairs when I have guests* I think I got something wrong with me where I'm never satisfied with my setup, and have to constantly move things around to keep it interesting for me. Usually I'll post pictures of "my new and improved setup" at one website and/or blog and by the time I go to post the same pics at another, I have to take new ones. Then by the time I get those up, at least SOMETHING's been moved. So I guess you can never plan on breaking in and knowing where all my crap is tongue

Gotta have a VIP section. wink

Right now my room is a mess because I shuffled everything around like I've been trying to for the last few months. One of these days maybe I'll be able to take a picture of my humble setup but right now it's still messy. tongue

Over the next month or so, my various set-ups will change, and I'm hoping to do right by myself and my toys--but it could be difficult.

One half of what's happening is our current computer/office/art and crafts room--a mess!--will have its contents split up. The room will just be for arts and crafts (which is not only for my wife, but me, too, >blush<), while our computer center/office stuff heads for the basement. I'm hoping to use some of the cool things I've seen on this thread in designing my digs. (Unfortunately, there will be no extra dough to upgrade the hardware. My Pentium 4, bare bones with I Gig of RAM will have to suffice for some time longer.)

However, the other half of what's happening is when we've finished our basement (partitions and drywall and so forth) and the computer stuff moves in, the home theatre set-up will be disrupted. It was previously free to take up all the space it wanted; it ran the long way of our rectangle-shaped main basement, allowing for proper placement of our rear two speakers. Now, however, our projection TV and couch will have to occupy opposing corners along the short dimension on one half of the room. No place to put the speakers but the right rear one dirrectly to our right along the wall and the left rear one, sigh, more or less above our heads.

I know, I know. But we really need that space. Plus, I get to tailor the who place any way I want. So I'm mostly psyched. Even if I can't figure out a way around that sound snafu.

I'll post pics if I can find the blaster digital camera.

Few more pics....again, pretty modest for a home studio, but it does the job given the limited space I have.

I ripped my bunk desk apart and built a new one a few weeks ago. Only thing that's missing from this photo is the bowling pin I ripped off from work when I got laid off. It completes the desk quite well. It's also a little messy at the moment so I don't want to take a brand new, up to the hour picture.

Looks like a nice, idyllic setting. I like those shelves.

ROFL

Is that a door for your desktop??? Not that there's anything wrong with it. At first I was like "that's pretty cool", until I zoomed in and saw the area where it looked like there used to be a door hinge. I'd say that's pretty clever.

Doors always make great desktops when you're building one up...can be a nice way to save money too. You can go to a lumber yard and get a solid door for a nice strong top that you can load a lot of stuff onto, and you're likely to get a lot more desk space than a lot of pre-built desks. Also, the doorknob assembly cutout makes a nice way to run your cables through if you push it up against the wall.

Ooh, and rockin' the classic Diablo, good choice my friend.

*bump* since the topic's come up. I'll be posting some in a week or two, when I move everything back into my house for the summer. After that, when I come back to school, I plan to move stuff around so I have a different setting for things. I've had the same room layout for the last two years.

Of course, it is a lot messier now; that was taken last November, I believe.

That's the laptop and my old mouse (now broken, but the one I got to replace it is WAY better, so no worries) sitting on the plastic tote. Good times.
