This is a link to a LOT of free textures usable in 3d applications for easy mapping. Thought it might make a good addition to this sticky.

Here's a collection of free sounds I just found over at 3dtotal.com. It's a database with currently over 10k of sound files for free. This should give many people without proper audio equipment a good way of getting great audio.

Doubt there's a tutorial, but I could run you through how to do if it you like. IM/PM me, it's simple.

I have a question about dolly systems. I know how to make one and rails for it, but what about ties. This pic should help explain. All I want to know is what are the best ways to make them and attach them to the rails.

I think a lot of people use some form of screw or bolt to attach the rail to the track, but it depends on the type of system you're using and the material of the rail. wink Just a few thoughts.

Hope that helps!

Celtx, a free, open source scriptwriting and preproduction program for PC and Mac. It is very stable and intuitive. I am never going back to Final Draft. wink

Oh man, I am all over that.
It'd be sweet if you could organize storyboards on it too, but that'd require a scanner prolly.

Could someone please give me some camera advice. I'm looking to but a camera, nothing fancy, as I'm not really a film maker, more of an effects guy. My budget is very limited, and I was wondering if the camera at the top of this page: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=Go&DEPA=0&type=&description=&Category=6&minPrice=&maxPrice=&Go.x=19&a mp;Go.y=33 would be adequate for some simple compositing, greenscreen, etc. tests and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The idea has crossed my mind to create a filmmaking wiki that would, in theory, essentially serve the role this thread serves, but on a broader scale and related to all of filmmaking, including techniques, tutorials, history, resources, and include common media - sounds, stock footage, and etc.

Thoughts?

If you can keep people who've never worked with video from coming in and altering it all the time I think it'd be cool. wink
