I don't know how to make it glow in DAZ, but if I can make it glow in Blender and use it in DAZ then that'd be great.

I doubt it, cause when you would export the lightsabre, it only exports mesh, and the glow cant really be saved as a mesh, well, depending on which way you do it.

Couldn't it be rigged with lights or something? I can't seem to get Blender to work at all right now, it keeps crashing as soon as it opens.

Edit: I'm giving up on Blender, I just can't get it to open at all. I tried adding lights in DAZ but every time I loaded light sets the vanished.

This is really starting to annoy me.

Can I have some opinions on this? I'm thinking the blade looks a little flat, but I could just be tired.

It does look pretty flat. happy

I think this might be an alternative. It has more definition and presence in your three-dimensional environment, but keeps the stylistic look you have going, with the harsh edges and the high contrast.

I think I see what you did there, though it does look too dark. There's also too much contrast. Sorry to be fussy.

Odd, it doesn't seem to look good in Firefox3 but it looks great in SeaMonkey. thinking

How did you do that? I've looked and I can't seem to get the same results. The best I could come up with was this:

I have a feeling that it looks a bit too big.

You may want to soften up your core layer just a tad more on that one.

hey guys, its been some time now since ive release my first SW fanfilm - Power of the Dark Side (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEsqPk4ipGw) - and now i finally started shooting a sequel. thing is that i realized that my lightsaber creation knowledge somehow vanished over the years and so id like to ask. is there any brand new method for creating lightsabers? i know i should look for it myself, just didnt have time yet =)

anyway, the main question is - how do you guys make red lightsabers in after effects? Maybe its just my feeling, but i never really liked my red sabers, not a single one of them. do you have some special method?

its a WIP snapshot from my new film, the saber is pretty much done though. I just dont like it =)

Well, it's not looking bad. Just not "wow".

Did you darken the shot in post or adjust the levels at all? If so, maybe you'd like to comp the red saber into the shot before doing so. And maybe add another faint glow layer to it that spreads very wide... with a blur of like 200 or such.

New RvB2 VFX. Preliminary version, no sound work yet, still VFX work to be done.

Damn, is that the killshot? Brutal.

I notice some light-spill from the overhead fluourescent on B's arm, but I assume that you didn't try to add a similar effect from R's saber. Not a deal-breaker, but the vfx should probably strive to match the real light sources as much as possible.
