I agree with the haters here. Although I'm not participating, yet another extra week won't help. The comp's been active for several months now, and people will know it's there. If they get an extra week, they'll be thinking in one week what they're thinking now. If they haven't gotten it done by now, they probably won't either.


As for the bumper, it's not all that, but it was done in little over an hour, and took me a good 40 minutes to render. I've never been the king of compression, so I had to go with an MPG4 codec, which ultimately led the ext to me blurrier than it should. But, I used an hour, so I'm fine with that.

Things are probably going to get interesting in the next week. Still some work to be done on my entry, but I'm also doing some PA work for another film that's going to be shooting 12-16 hour overnights all of next week. I see a lot of caffeine in my near future.

At the least I should have a good cut with finished effects, final color grade, draft sound, and temp score. Like Harrison, planning a finished release down the road.

I've been thinking about it and have decided to pull out of the contest. I have a near finished duel that would be in presentable shape in time for the deadline, but the duel is only 50% of the film. To be honest, I'm not comfortable letting 50% of an unfinished film out the door. I'll probably make a thread for it as soon as I get a trailer ready. Here are some stills from my duel, and I look forward to see what everyone else comes up with!

Nice grabs! Looks like you have a story running with it. Wish you could have stayed in man. Just do a rough cut for the fest then put the full one out when you're completely done. that's what I'm doing if everything doesn't finish.

That's exactly what I was planning on doing, but I just decided that's not what I wanted to do. I'd rather wait until it is 100% done and the best I can make it.

Hm. Bit of a non-contest if all the best entries drop out.

I'm filming my entry for next year's competition over Christmas, then working on effects with a small team over the year to ensure I've got plenty of time to get everything done.
