Something tells me he's remote desktop-ing with his iPhone. I am able to run AE on my phone over the internet as well.

I have a feeling trying to use Vegas on a phone would cause more harm than good.

Admittedly, I have done no professional work, but I've edited dozens of projects while in school, and I have NO problem saying that editing in Vegas or Premiere was easier than in FCP. FCP had plenty of things I wish that the other two had, but the overall interface sure as hell isn't one of them.

As I said, that could change when I start doing professional work, but for my own projects, I get everything I want from Vegas.

^ FCP confusing?

you would not enjoy Avid

A confession: I've never used or even seen Vegas, but I hear people talk about it so much on these forums that I confess I wouldn't mind seeing someone take it for a spin for ten minutes. Just so I know what people are talking about, heh.

Not particularly confusing, no... just not as simple as other options.

But yeah, I've heard many a thing on AVID... and half the jobs on craigslist require experience. Better get around to learning that.

Avid's getting old these days, but I love her still. FCP and Premiere are pretty similar IMO, interface wise, and Vegas is just odd to me. I like the old school Avid.

If I had to use something else I would probably go Edius.

Just tell me what a good/free screencap program is and I'll gladly oblige. The only thing I'm weak in is the audio controls, but I really haven't been formally trained in audio work. Hence wanting a job where people can teach me stuff.

I would like to learn Avid, though. That's my Everest, it would seem.

They were giving away free, boxed copies of the newest Vegas Pro at NAB this year. You could have grabbed a copy then wink .

Both myself and my colleague, Cap, were trained on AVID Mojo suites in college and never had much trouble using it. By our second year we could almost cut an entire news package without using the mouse. Keep in mind, this was when Final Cut Pro was on versions 2 or 3. Final Cut Studio wasn't released till our 4th year of learning. The odd thing about it is I now edit on a MacPro with Final Cut Studio 2 and Cap edits on a Vegas system. Once I learned a completely different keyboard layout for FCP (most AVID editors re-map their FCP keyboards to match what they know) I found it to be pretty comparable. Final Cut had a lot of catching up to do, and AVID was a little slow in adopting the new HD formats, but they're pretty even now. Granted the last AVID system I used was Xpress Pro v5, and I'm comparing it to FCP 6. I think people get a little fanboy-ish when talking about which system is better. But on the other hand, Cap, who's using the Vegas system, has been very frustrated with its lack of features that come standard with Final Cut and AVID systems. I'm not sure what they were exactly... something having to do with importing pictures or image sequences, among many other things. And he's a read-the-manual kinda guy, whereas I'm a fly by the seat of my pants learner.

And a good/free program for desktop capture is Jing.

If anyone watches The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight, take note when Craig makes fun of an audience member's noise comparing it to a parakeet. Said audience member was SITTING RIGHT BEHIND ME.

Over the weekend... okay, Monday... I passed through NY while having a mental breakdown and also didn't visit Adam.

I forgot my phone... girlfriend has EZPass, I don't... we lose track of each other, I have to find my way to her house on LI. I ended up stopping at a random deli, three mental breakdowns later, and armed with a phone book, call them from what turned out to be two minutes away.
