I need some help.

My brother and I, decided to listen to the audio books for the "Legacy Of The Force" while working, since we're in the car all day. However, today, whilst listening to the first book, Josh was confused by a few things, mainly, "who's anakin solo", who were the Yuuzhan Vong, where's chewie, and many others. So, I decided, that before we continue, we'd listen to the series that features the Yuuzhan Vong War. Which I'm pretty sure is the force heretic trilogy.

But my question is, is there a book, or series of books that we should listen to first so he doesn't have questions about that? He's not a nerd, so he's not caught up at all.

You should be starting with Vector Prime, which started the New Jedi Order series and introduces many of these concepts.

The Yuuzhan Vong war is covered in the New Jedi Order series, which the Force Heretic trilogy is a small part of (there's like 19 books in all). As for what you'd need to know to not be confused, quite a lot I think, as pretty much every major character created to that point is involved. I'm not entirely sure though, as I only read a few before giving up, I don't think they're very good.

So Fox News had approximately 1,401,000 more viewers on one day than those other three networks combined. Seems to me that the populous considers it to be a viable news channel.

Which is alarming, since it isn't one.

Also, this.

I get my news from Jon Stewart. He's the most unbiased news source I've ever found. He makes fun of everybody equally.

Its a sad state of affairs when the most reliable source of news is Comedy Central . . . . but there it is.

One day I'm going to figure out why everyone is so concerned that Fox News exists.

You see, I read DailyKos. There is this whole crowd there who, it seems, cannot go a day without wringing their hands over the fact that Fox News broadcasts and that Glenn Beck has a commentary program. Since I don't have cable, I have never spent much time with the channel, but I have seen a couple of the YouTube clips (of the "WE MUST STOP GLENN BECK NOW BECAUSE HE SAID THIS ON TELEVISION") and it all seemed much ado about nothing to me.

I am convinced that 90% of Fox News' viewership is comprised of liberals who watch it so they can complain about it afterwards.

There's nothing funnier than people trying to make you afraid of something that is itself trying to make you afraid.

I think you answered your own question.

The real concern is that, as pointed out above, millions of people seem to be under the impression that Fox News is actually a news organization. They believe the things people like Beck and O'Reilly say. And then they take to the streets in "protest" of things that are entirely fictitious.

If there weren't huge crowds of people showing up at political events and parroting Beck's delusions verbatim, then he wouldn't be an issue at all. But there are, so he is.

Why are the protestors such a big problem? I mean, I don't support the notion of unattractive people waving misspelled signs in public, but they haven't done anything to hurt me.

The truth is, I don't think our government really responds to protests no matter who they're from. The 60s are over. And the teabaggers can shout their little lungs out but it won't get the scary black man out of office any more than the antiwar protests did for whatever they were supposed to get done.

Here's my question, since you've now twice did the "Fox is not news" thing: do you think this about their more button-down news programming as well? In your opinion, do other news networks do a better job of pointing out who is meant to be manning the (ostensibly!) fair and balanced news desk, and who is in the position of commentator / editorial?

Because I'll be honest, I had to look up who Fox's regular news anchors are. I only know the people from the commentary shows. But, then, I also don't know who the just-the-facts-ma'am news people are at MSNBC, I only know Olbermann and (ugh) Maddow. So you see, it's very difficult. tongue

In any case if I had to pick ten TV shows that were contributing to the breakdown of society on some psychic level, Glenn Beck's wouldn't even place. In fact, NO political/opinion/commentary program would. They only wish they had the power to shape people's lives so deviously!

So I found a list of books that said they had to do with the new jedi order,
Vector Prime
Dark Tide I
Dark Tide II
Agents Of Chaos I
Agents Of Chaos II
Balance Point
Edge Of Victory I
Edge Of Victory II
Star By Star
Dark Journey
Enemy Lines I
Enemy Lines II
Traitor
Destiny's Way
Force Heretic I
Force Heretic II
Force Heretic III
The Final Prophecy
The Unifying Force
Dark Nest I
Dark Nest II
Dark Nest III

However, the Dark Nest Trilogy isn't listed on This Page. So should I get them to, or just leave them out?

The Dark Nest Trilogy is technically set after the New Jedi Order series. It is a continuation of events, but as it does not deal with the Yuuzhan Vong, it is a different series.
