no. Gb is gigabit, GB is gigabyte.

EDIT: Even though computers use the same prefixes as the metric system (kilo, mega, giga, tera, peta, exa, zetta, yotta), 1,000MB does NOT equal 1GB.
It's 1,024MB = 1 GB

8 bits = 1 byte. This is because it takes 8 bits (a binary string of 0's and 1's) to represent a single ASCII character.

I wonder how long it will take for someone to call us nerds.
