RE: RECIPROCITY
TJA Wrote: <<"The Jedi ARE taught to feel emotion, hell that's one of the most integral parts of the entire order. "Feel, don't think, use your instincts." "You must feel the Force around you.">>
The two lines from the trilogy; don't think, and feel the force around you, do not really have to do with emotions. They have to do with sensing the force, and using what you feel from it to act, not what you think. That is not quite the same thing as feeling emotions. Close, but not quite. ;-)
The line from Reciprocity (without going into so much detail as to spoil anything) is particularly focused on feeling fear, and other emotions that are naturally associated with compassion. The character is trying to make a point that if you divide and pull certain emotions away from your thoughts, it will naturally effect other emotions you have.
Dan005e: Were you talking about the question of will it make July 20th? I hate to say it, but probably not. That weekend, starting on the 19th, is our last big scheduled push on sound editing. (Where we will have a number of computers brought in to help with rendering, sound, etc..) The last week of July is the target area. Sorry, friend.

Scott, how did you make your lightsabers? Were the custom made, store bought or were the something like Parksabers? I couldnt tell because here were no really close up shots of the lightsabers.

RE: RECIPROCITY
Depends on the light saber. We had two custom works that were kit bashed together from store bought items. Two were just the normal toys seen at any Walmart (as they were distant the whole time, didn't warrent the extra attention.)
They still got a little extra air brush work, and other items added though. The blades were, belive it or not, white PVC pipe. The thin pipe is surprisingly resiliant to impacts. In fact, PVC is really cheep, so we had several replacments cut for each saber, but I think we only broke one the entire shooting of the film. (Or rather, I think it got bent from milting in the back of a car...)

RE: RECIPROCITY
I had one small suggestion if you still have the ability to go back and fix it.
The door problem is easily fixed if you have someone who can do even basic 3d or maybe even 2d effects.
Film the whole scene with the door open, then, later, add in a CG door that would open. Easy enough, and it would take out the moment of 'Its a door. . .' from it. =)

RE: RECIPROCITY
Honestly, the door is seen for such a short time in the film I am not to worried about it. Going back to do a re-shoot with 14+ cast and crew members is just not an option... that and the building it was shot at was demolished last year. :-)
Digitally pulling out the door is a possibility, but not one I am open to looking into right now. It wasn't on our list as an effect shots to finnish, so it won't be looked at again until we do the final polish review. In which case, I may or may not look into what can be done with it.
It's going to come down to the question: Is it worth delaying the movie another week or two to fix this.

RE: RECIPROCITY
For those waiting on Reciprocity: We have sliped a little into August, though we still plan to have it out very soon. We have done some re-dubing of dialouge, including the voice of our masked villian.
We are pushing very hard to have it done before the 17th though, which is when we return to college. (After two years on the project, we don't really want to take it back to school again.) ;-)
For those who are waiting, there will be another short trailer releaced very soon, featuring new effects, and a new character.

RE: RECIPROCITY
No, sorry. When we get the last dialogue re-recorded on the 8th (our studio time with the voice actor) I'm going to have him put down some special lines for the trailer only. It will be similar to the "tone poems" from the Ep 1 previews.
About 60% of the trailer will be new footage. The total run time will be quite short, a 25-30 second spot.

BTW Scott what exactly are you doing right now. Are you doing that thing with you talked about above or just editing and tweaking the audio and video? Just curious.

RE: RECIPROCITY
The main thing is new audio-dubbing. We found a really good voice actor to lend his talents to our main villian (the masked man). So we are recording his lines in the studio and dubing them into the film. Currently that character is dubed by my own voice (which is heard in the trailer). I never really liked my own voice in the roll, and had been planning to change it for some time.
We are doing a lot of little things as well, while we wait on that. Going back and tweaking a few effects shots with new tricks we have learned, etc.
On a side note: We live outside Atlanta, and if TFN would like, we could do a special presentation at Dragon*con.
