RE: Star Wars: Revelations Trailer
Your credibility = gone
Heh, you are missing my point; On the Zhanna thing, I am displaying
my opinion
, nothing else. I am not claiming an absolute.
I am just saying *I* love every minute of it. You, and many others, is probably gonna think its way over the top, I dunno.
To me, there is a right way and a wrong way to "intentionally overact". Star Wars
is
about a certain style of acting in some sense. In
my
opinion, she nails that. You can't really tell from the trailer, tho.
But she's got the look, you have to admit that
But as said before, one mans "shakespearean effort" is the other guys "overacted crap", and the one guys "overacted crap" is the other guys "advanced method acting"... acting is one of those things no two people are ever going to agree on.
I mean, look, Lucas apparently thinks the exchange "master yoda" "count dooku" is well acted?!? So opinion clearly differs

Me too
I think people are taking my personal affection w. Zhanna as "Queen Bitch of the Universe" a bit too literal... c'mon you guys, I'm just trying to be a bit positive here.

Once again Zap, I must remind you that "Queen Bitch of the Universe" ® is reserved only for Princess Leia Organa in the movie "Pink Five".

I know a few people who I can label "queen bitch of the universe." That label fits nicely.

(raises hand) me too ... what gives
We appreciate the support and positive feedback for Revelations, and hope you will continue to look for the release. We are proud of the effort and work put into this film, and it has been a long road.. one we are looking to end, and produce an enjoyable product. Revelations gives a lot of looks never seen or done, and approaches star wars at an original angle that we feel is exciting and fresh, yet very Star Wars.
Thanks to all the supporters, believers, and nay sayers..
And yes.. I think we are going to let Jeremy West take a shot at recompressing the trailer for us.. as I will admit compression is not my strong suit .. and you know my rule.. "If you can't do it well, find someone who can"

RE: Star Wars: Revelations Trailer
Hi everyone. Declan here. (The guy with the long hair in Revelations.) I just wanted to chime in and support what the director has said. We’re real proud of the work we’ve done here and very much amazed at the effort the entire crew at Panicstruck has put into this. Let’s not lose our perspective here. We’re all fans and we’re talking about a fan film that has been, and in fact continues to be, produced on a shoestring. Remember that all we’re seeing here so far is a trailer and, while we feel that the new trailer totally rules, remember that it is not the finished product. What you’re seeing, you’re seeing out of context, it’s meant to draw you in and make you want to see more.
I must say I am fascinated (in a good way) with the depth of the critique I’ve seen here.
I must have watched that thing a dozen times and I never noticed the Viper until I read about it here.
Big shout out to the whole crew (especially the sound and CG folks) for getting the trailer done at all, let alone in time for Farpoint, and for making us look as good as we do. I hear the director and producer also helped a little. (Deliberate massive understatement here you may smirk)
Gina (Taryn) and I both want to express our thanks to everyone for the overwhelming positive response we’ve seen here.
Declan

Azeem made a new post and didn't want people posting about the new Trailer in both.
I duno - seems to me that they were two different threads.
I like Azeem and all ... but I think that he jumped the gun a little in locking the other thread.

RE: Star Wars: Revelations Trailer
Well, despite the criticism, good, bad or nitpicky, I'm anxious to see how the rest of this movie looks. I hope we don't see a great trailer to be let down by story; that's just a given. And I'm not terribly excited about Zhanna's acting either. However, I realize there's more there than just the trailer and that the cast and crew of Revelations is putting a lot of time and effort into this project.
And yay Jeremy! I hope more of the subtleties in the images are brought out.
I showed this trailer to my wife, and, like everyone she had some things to say about all of it, there was a part she said, under her breath, "Cheesy." I don't remember the part.
Just thought I'd throw that in.

I'm a little curious about the reaction to the Emperor. Seems to me he always looks a bit like a puppet. An eeeeeeeevil puppet, of course.
Oh, and SamS? Try to get your wife to recall what she thought was cheesy. Given that I spent a great deal of all five
SW
films muttering under my breath ("A diner?
A diner?"
), I'd love to know what pinged for her.

It was the dancing girl in the forcefield. My wife is keenly aware of the fanboy fantasies that abound in the minds of sci-fi fans ('specially that of the male persuasion) and seeing the dancing girl was just a big glowing example of that. When I asked her if she remembered, she couldn't until I mentioned the girl and she just laughed. A cute evil little cackle.
My wife's cool.

That wasn't the Emperor in
Duality
...
and since I finally got around to reading the *whole* thread, this is for Nien and Foamy - the decision to host
Revelations
was made before I came on staff, so it's grandfathered in as far as I'm concerned - I've played fair with everything submitted since I started...
No one should try and read any favoritism or speacial treatment into these situations... because no one's gotten any... 'k?
