Hi, I am trying to capture some footage using ImageMixer (program that came with the cam). I connect everything up, so far so good. It says 'DV IN' on the cam so I assume everything is working. I open up the program and attempt to capture, but in the preview window I just get a blue screen and no audio. I can still control the cam from my comp but I can't see anything in the preview window so I can't capture! Any help would be great.
Owen
PS: This is my first time capturing using Firewire

Did you read the manual and check for the DV OUT setting? Oh, and make sure that there is something on the tape. I, believe it or not, made that mistake.

Yeah there is a DV OUT setting and something on the tape but wouldn't DV OUT be used for exporting to the tape? I have a though that I may be missing some drivers on my comp.

Well owen, I believe imagemixer is a program used to capture pictures off of a camera's memory card, using the camera's usb port. What version of windows do you have? Xp automatially detects dv devices, if you have windows xp or me, and no additonal software than what came with the camera I would suggest using windows movie maker.

DV OUT on the camera sends video to the computer. DV IN on the camera sends video from the computer to the Camera. You want it set to DV OUT.
EDIT: And Imagemixer works with video.

I think your thinking of Image Transfer, this also comes with the cam and does the functions you mention.
I have Windows 98SE and I also have Premiere but it doesn't work on that either.
DV OUT on the camera sends video to the computer. DV IN on the camera sends video from the computer to the Camera. You want it set to DV OUT.
I set it to DV OUT however DV IN still appears on the LCD screen.
