Hi everyone
This is really just a general question to find out what everyone uses.
I've used a number of different blade cores when filming, all of varying width, length, and material (or should I say metals), and I have one or two favourites, but I'm just woundering what everyone else uses.

Also, does anyone know what they use on ep3?

This would really be better if placed in the HOW TO MAKE LIGHTSABERS thread. Might want to check there. wink

Yeah.

That said, most of us use either 1/2"-3/4"aluminum tubes or wooden dowels, some people use a strange polycarbonate stuff, and they're using a type of graphite for EpIII.

I thought that they used something different for ep3 as you never see a bent or dinged blade in any of the videos (making of) they've relased so far. (Man that would be useful stuff to have!)

They are, they're using a 1/2" graphite rod for EpIII, when they used aluminum beforehand.

That's what happens when a Star Wars movie comes out. grin
And no offense, but seeing as how you're not even a year old yet on these forums I wouldn't talk too loud lol.

The Ep.III cores?

I think a guy on here was peddling a few for $50 a piece? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he was importing them from.. somewhere. lol

And now, for my next display of completely useless barely-educated guesses...

No doubt the prop crew has a bajillion. Hayden just snaps his fingers and they unscrew the inadequate rod from the hilt and attach a brand spankin' new one.
