Sorry for the cruddy photograph - the dim lighting in dorm rooms isn't exactly perfect for a photo (I had to blow it up a bit in Photoshop).

I usually have a better monitor than the Sony flatscreen, this one's my mom's and I'm just borrowing it to save deskspace. Normally I have a much larger traditional monitor, yet the picture quality is excellent.

The only thing missing from the picture is my microphone (which is burried under some papers, and my ZR-25MC (the camera I used to take my pictures)... it's not a professional camera, but it works.

At home I normally have a TV hooked up so that I can see how the video will look.

:P

Well, it's not that bad. It just lacks the clarity of my "other" monitor.

I know I'm a noob, but what's with the multiple monitor setups? Is it a setup involving two computers with separate peripherals? Or is there a switch in the setup?

I've always thought of doing something like that, but I keep asking myself why would I want to?

Dual monitors. Lots of video cards can do them these days. Both monitors hook up to the same machine and your monitor becomes doubly wide. Drag windows right across to the other monitor, etc. Very good for applications with lot of UI. A lot of graphic design and effects companies set up their workstations this way for that reason. I'm doing it currently at home as well.

I've got two monitors now, but I want a wide flat screen -- mainly because I think it'll give me better color resolution when editing.

My setup is teh suck!!!!!1!!one.

If it wasn't for high speed internet I'd never touched this thing.

For Xmas I'm getting my own comp, luckily I have 2 friends who went to a computer school and will help me pick out a comp that is primo for editing.

At a recent Lan Party I joked about pimping out a rig with Hydraulics.

I totally agree with this post!! It all starts with a simple pad of paper. Or, as I prefer, a whiteboard:

(You'll notice a diagram of a ship on a landing strip and some lines/blocks around it; this is where the ground assault was first conceived before it was even written!)

But, when it gets down to writing, communicating, coordinating, and editing, this is where I spend the bulk of both my workday and my free time.
