Looks good.

Anyone know how to translate that tutorial for Combustion?

Here, I've done a test with the new tutorial:

Sorry I couldn't post later...

That was a interesting tutorial there, Ryan. I like the way this one works a lot better than the other one. Just a suggestion, but maybe you could make a more, uh, in depth tutorial for lightsaber curves, because a lot of people don't understand how to do that yet...

Nice job!

Wouldn't that simply require a better understanding of masks?

I just realized, if you like this method, and you already have a movie made with the old method, all you gotta do is take the rotoing layer, add a couple of adjusment layers, and boom, you got the new method.

Yes, it is a lot easier than the previous one. I'll have to adjust the settings to my liking.

Top notch as always, Ryan! The only downside... now I'm gonna have to find some footage to try it out on... lol.. I especially like that last bit about actually being able to (easily) roto WHILE the glows are visible, so you can see what it's going to look like while you're working... awesome stuff!

Thanks for the new tutorial/method Ryan. The bonus to the new method that I see is that now if I have to fix the size of the saber core, I dont have to delete the previous glow layers that I made and re-duplicate the new ones. I can do it all in one shot! cool

I dont know if you meant to do it or you spat it out spontaniously....but before I watched this, I was thinking you were gonna take a jab at ILM somewhere in there! wink

that tutorial rocks even though it is a longer process than your old one. it is the first video tutorial that shows you how to do two lightsabers!!

I dont think its a longer process.. in fact, you save a lot of time for the future if you wan't to tweak an specific frame where the mask didn't look OK...

Ryan, did you try this with gaussian blur?

It's not working with gaussian blur because it fades out on the ends when the saber gets near the edge of the screen. I have after effects 6.0 pro so maybe things are different in 6.5.

That's in FAST blur, not gaussian blur (unless they added that in 6.5).
