I actually did do a "version II" of the tutorial with more in depth talk, but it became 145 megabytes somehow (dont ask wink ) and I will try to compress that to QT decently somehow. It actually mentions that, plus talks keyboard shortcuts./Z

I'd like to see it!

Zap, is that other one in swf? I just ask because i hate swf, and won't watch it unless its in a different format.... I didn't even watch Run Leia Run until I was able to convert it to an avi. Its not you, I promise. SWF files just don't seem to play on my computer very well.

I thought the ILM comment was mildly humorous, I chuckled a little. I didn't fall off the table or anything. You guys are crazy. Or maybe I just know too many funny people and get jaded. I dunno.

I watched it. I thought it was pretty good. Took forever to load, but I thought it was informative. I'd be interested to see a follow-up, if you put it in a QT file, like you said. tongue

Ryan, very nice. I think I'll be sticking with the old way, because I've been doing it for two and a half years... I've expanded enough on it that with shortcuts, it's almost as short as this method. But nevertheless, very nice work with the adjustment layers and such.

And Joph, I said it before and I'll say it again, melikes :P

I'll be sticking with the old method too. It seems easier and faster for me.

Nice work on the tutorial Ryan.

It's amusing to see the glow rendering in real-time. Grr. Nice little 400x300 jpgs. Somehow, I don't think I'll be using that feature wink

Zap: I tried to view yours to little avail. Maybe I'll try it in IE and see if it comes through.
EDIT: IE's doing the job. Commentary soon.
EDIT II: Zap: your tutorial is a memory hog. At any rate, I really enjoyed it - and there are some nice keyframing tips in there. A real time saver for people who haven't done much roto-masking before. I'm certainly going to switch to rotoing in the comp window when The Test starts production.

Okay, here is my tutorial

Note; it's kinda big (33M) and it may have some playback issues coz my software compressed it to flash and threw away the original before I could blink, and I got what I got and I aint recording again wink

It kinda - quickly ish - shows how easy it is in the footage window compare to the headaches and pains trying to do effeicient roto in a comp window.

can you post a link for download?

I'm well aware it's a near-unplayable hog; like I said, the software, without asking me for any options, made it a swf and threw away the original wink

Download? Not really, since it's a flash file, but try the same name without .html at the end.

Version II is coming when I get my computer to compress the "#¤(/&#¤#/ thing correctly.

What capture utility are you using, Zap? Sounds like it's not working so great for you. I recommend HyperCam.
