I wanna do a lot of animation tests first before I make a full duel, I also want to get the rights to the model and rig as they're not actually mine but they are free to use :P

It occurred to me tonight, during a chat with Boter, that while I'm busy with wrapping up the first half of FKaD, I still do have a completed edit of
Furious Angels
sitting on my hard drive. All it really needs is rotoscoping and sound effects.
[/ b]
FKaD Part 1 = FA, basically. Part 1 goes on past where FA was forced to stop (stupid battery), but I've got this half-finished thing that'll at least make an amazing bonus feature. However, I've got to work on FKaD roto'ing, sound, color correction, on and on. And that's after I finish the edit still (so very close).
Anyone want to roto FA?

The film is about half an hour, the remaining saber sequences is four-five minutes. Maybe less.
It depends, because I still have the AE project files for the last couple minutes but back when I did it I was working off of a compressed version. Everything now is full NTSC, though I'm fairly sure I'll still be able to use it.

i might be interested in rotoscoping FA. You say 4-5 minutes. That doesnt sound too bad if I split it with someone. Ive rotoscoped about 2 minutes of footage(if you remember it from two years ago, I remember I showed you over aim). Im faster now, but would you want just the cores, or the glows as well. I dont really care, I would just want to know

Yeah, I remember your old project a little bit.
I do hav the blur pretty well figured out. Sending project files is a lot easier than you rendering the completed vids out, but I'm betting you could probably implement the blur formula and see if it works for you. If not, it's easy enough to do on my end. Although, you weren't using After Effects back then, right?
I'm just going with a standard setting for FA, not changing too much for daylight/nighttime like with FKaD... mostly cuz it's really not worth the extra work for an incomplete film, y'know?
We should chat further. I'm online quite frequently.

I think its cuz of photobucket. It doesn't look like that in my folder but it does on my photobucket account. Oh well
Edit: Click on the picture and then click on it with the magnifying glass and it goes away

So it's prolly two things. Photobucket added a compression to your picture and also scaled it down? That will mess with how your blurs look quite a bit.

Sorry for the double, but you guys are taking too long to update.
Who wants to roto?
It's not for FA anymore, we're just going straight to FKaD. HD FTW.
BruceM has the first shot now and will be my chief... "glow guy". Everyone who assists needs only to do cores, he'll make all the sabers look consistent. Then he'll send me the AE project file and I'll render it out uncompressed, put it in my editing timeline and be overwhelmingly happy.
I'll be doing some roto too, ideally. Just gotta wrap up the rest of the edit first. Also, there'll be some burn marks if anyone is interested in doing that. We'll be able to handle it fine, but I've spent enough time trying to finish this project on my own. I want to get it done.
I'm calling all cars. Who's in?

I'll do a couple of shots.
Please post-up an example still or two of the core-shape you're into...no blurs or glows.

For a normal, unobstructed saber, this is what I generally do. Six points, bezier curve at the tip only. Obviously, if a shot calls for it I'll add one at the base.
Bruce says he does a five point mask, but we can work with either, so do what's more comfortable for you.
We're going for a TESB look overall, except for the bright outdoor shots. So, keep the tips curvaceous. The prop blades are 1/2" thick and ideally the white core would be 3/4". The hilts are 1-1/4" wide, so hopefully that'll give you an idea of how wide you should draw it at the base.
These are examples from the two major scenes I'll have folks doing:
I know the first one is gonna be rocky. I used the brightest tape I had, but unfortunately it's still hard to see for some of it (that's not how the final film is going to look, haven't color corrected yet, plus it looks a lot better in motion). We're going to work in chronological order as much as possible so as to keep confusion to a minimum and unfortunately that fight is first. It'll make for smooth sailing once we get through it, though.
If people just want to do the frames they're confident about about and leave gaps for me to fill in, that's fine. It'd still be helpful.
My work schedule is kinda crazy this weekend, but I'll start rendering and sending shots soon.
Any questions, feel free to PM me. IM info is in my profile.
