My thoughts:
Don't try and live up to what other people expect.
Make the best film you know how to make and be proud of your efforts.
Even if it's only seen by you and your mates at least you can say you achieved something.
Above all, have fun, be original, and never forget the people working on your team are doing it for free....be nice to them.
