I recently formatted my computer, due to quicktime and all apple software problems.
The first hour it was fresh, it all worked great, but after some windows updates.... it's all gone straight to Mustafar..
The problem:
.mov files cannot be opened or imported by ANY program on my PC. they all crash as soon as I open one.
Quicktime doesn't start. It loads, but no player. it doesn't appear in the task manager either.
iTunes.. well, doesn't really concern this forum, but it comes with quicktime. the problem there is the same as the QUicktime player, which is simply annoying, since it's my default audio player.
also, since most fanfilms and a lot of other internet videos is quicktime, this is VERY annoying.
does anyone have any idea on what might be the problem? As i wrote, the problem occurs after a windows update or two, but I seriously don't feel like formatting again.

I don't know what the problem is but there is a much better program for playing quicktime files including quicktime 7. Why anyone would want quicktime on their computer is beyond me.
You can get VLC player (IT'S FREE) at www.videolan.org It plays QT and many other formats both audio and video.

Try
reverting to QT 6.5
- that usually fixes most of the problems you're seeing. Then again it could have been several other things too but it's a start.
Hope that helps!

QT7 for Windows never was stable, from what I can tell. I reverted to 6.5 too, since I had a QTPro registration.

RE: Quicktime 7 issues
It always worked great for me, it was just the files that didn't work with ANY program.
works fine now thouhg. XP takes 10 minutes to format and install on my PC, so I really have no problem with it. Except that I have to reinstall all the software...
