Hey!

So recently I've been working with different framerates other than 29.97. I haven't come across a problem, but I do have a question about the rendering process..

So, let's say I place my video into my composition, and change the composition AND footage to 23.976 fps. Now, when I render this out, I use the Sorenson 3 compressor. In the compression settings, under framerate, do I keep this at the default of 30, or do I also change it as well to 23.976?
If I left the Sorenson settings at 30 fps, does the rendered video become 30 fps regardless of its composition and footage fps being at 23.976?

A few videos trials are rendering out right now, so I'll post what I've been working on either today or tomorrow.

Here's a framegrab:
Does this footage look stretched? or is it just me?

The frame rate will be whatever you tell it in AfterEffects, and the Sorenson codec will ignore whatever the frame rate setting is in that little window. If you were to try to change it in the Sorenson codec settings, it would give you an error message.

That footage does look a bit stretched, yes.

It is stretched. You need to take into account the Pixel Aspect Ratio. To do this, you have to select "stretch" in your Render Queue settings, and select a square pixel dimensions that add up to 16:9. In this case, it looks like you shot 16:9 DV, and thus the PAR is 1.2. Select 852x480 if you want to maintain vertical resolution, or, if you deinterlaced, select 720x405, since the vertical resolution isn't that high anyway.
