I've made several and have about 8 good years experience at it. I just shipped 6 to Norway for a production, those were plastic, not metal, and the package was about 6 or 7 pounds. Like I was saying above, 1 or two pounds isn't heavy if you don't have a big hole in your shoulder.
Back on topic, Mike, does the DVD contain any special features for RVD 1 or commentary tracks for that? Sorry If thats already been stated as I didn't do research on it.

George Lucas himself changed his mind on the "weight" of lightsabersa as time went on.
OT idea was that the energy was so strong there was almost like a "drag" force (like if you spin a bicycle wheel and try to move it, the gyroscopic forces are quite strong in preventing you). Heck, the sound design (the wroom-wroom) was made with the idea to make a sonic representation of this "heavy drag". "They should be swung like broadswoards" he said.
In PT, they were suddenly ninja-esque rapier quick things with little to no weight which you did silly flourishes with.... and that was back from the "older time". *sigh*. (I wish they had gone with the original "Battery pack in belt and lightsaber on a cable" design from the PT. Honestly, I'm trying to eject the whole PT from my mind, pretending it never was....

Actually, GL decided that the lightsabers should be light in TESB because they wanted to be faster and more intense, and broke away from the "Haveing to always use two hands" that Lucas originally said.

I wrote a script where they had lightsabers connected to power supplies. The finished product ended up being pretty boring and stupid, though, so I'm probably not going to make it. Just saying.

Yeah, he said as Jedi got more experience they were able to move a lot faster with their lightsabers and in ESB he wanted, at times, for Luke to battle with one hand to show he had gained more experience.

I finally most of the extras this weekend, good job. The main BTS could have been a bit tighter, but on the other hand I find the day-to-day differences interesting. First couple days enthusiasm and humour is high… then as the heat and exhaustion rise you can see the crankyness escalate… but then you get past that point in the later days and pull together a more professional set, which is commendable.

So a friend of mine moved out of her apartment yesterday and since she was flying back to Turkey with her family, didn't have a lot of room for all those little extra things you have when you move.
Basically, among other things, I got her Sony computer speakers, subwoofer and all. This is something I definitely have not had for a while, ever since my pet rabbit chewed the wire to the last one and I've been working off a pair of Dell speakers ever since. (This is why I don't have a rabbit anymore.)
Anyway, my point is that as soon as I got home and set it up, you know what I opened to test how it sounded?
That's right.
Ryan vs. Dorkman. Didn't even think about it, it was just reflex.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, gentlemen.
