Narrative structure. That would of helped this. Alot.

I did like the injoke about the Attack of the Clones deleted scene but it dosent go anywhere. The writing in this episode was a step down from the previous one which made me chuckle somewhat,

I dont know what I find worse, the terrible accents or attempts at writing? If your going to get Englishisms so horribly horribly wrong, just leave them out. get a language consultant or something! I mean it's not 'Trash' It's 'Rubbish'.

just like this script ho ho ho

I liked the idea of keeping the ewoks in check with a menial task to stop them being deadly and I liked the bit where Obi-wan replies to Spiderman by picking up his own figure... BUT they dont really have a pay off.

this series is just untapped potential, all we have are plenty of locked off shots of two guys being bored in a flat.

so lets have more stuff like the opening scene (but dont just spoof things from the films!)

Thanx for the critique Ripper! I know you didn't like JaJ3 so much, but you still took the time to let us know what you thought about it. happy

Of course, I'm not happy that it didn't turn out as well as I thought it did. I still want more people to review. It really helps. Ripper and bgii_2000 have been critical, but it has been very constructive. Thank you again.

p.s. I'm only posting so much, because I'm trying to put off my Sound Design homework for a little bit. >_<

Ripper and bgii_2000, thank you for the critique, and for being honest. It shows that, although we may be missing the mark, we are aiming in the general direction.

Episodes 1-3 are what I like to call the 'foundation episodes'. Meaning, they get the general idea out there. Now we have to expand upon, and prefect what we've got.

If anyone else has any thoughts, please share. happy

And that's the problem, man. Pilot Episodes let the audience know what to expect. What you've done, is to tell your audience, "Here's what you'll get in epsiode IV. More of THIS!" Which is not what you want.

Calvin and Imperial,
I'm glad to hear that you were able to check that equipment out from the school, and that you DIDN'T invest in it. You should be spending money on school, which is exactly what you've done. Good for you.

Imperial, I think the cinematography is just about the best part of the series. It's not groundbreaking, or revolutionary, but it's decent. You've used good framing, and the editing generally shows good continuity of action. As the DOP you should also focus on your lighting design though. These are a couple of pages on lighting I found interesting.

http://www.videomaker.com/learn/techniques/lighting/
http://www.mediacollege.com/lighting/three-point/

Try to light for the mood, but also for contrast. Make the frame interesting with light. I would try to make more use of your tripod and some longer lenses in the future, but that's just my preference. Do try to stabilize your walking shots though. A wheelchair or a wagon might help this.

Calvin, as Ripper mentioned, your writing needs a TON of work, and not just in localizing the dialect.

1) You need to write not only in a grammatically correct manner, but also in a poetic manner so as to make the lines easy to say. Don't give your actors tongue twisters! The accents make this process extremely difficult, so go over the lines with your actors to iron out any difficult phrases before shooting.

2) You need to work on your plot development. Now I'm not saying you need some twisted goodguy vs. baddguy thing where everyone is double crossing everyone else. Just simple listing "setup/payoff" style story-telling. Cherkov's Gun, for example. "If there is a gun on the stage in the 1st act, it should have been fired by the time the curtain closes. If Ovi-Wan mentions an Ewok in the beginning of the episode, an Ewok should show up by the end of the film. Try for some irony.

If you can, work with an editor, specifically, one from the UK. There are several online resources that might help you with this.

http://www.perfectimagination.co.uk/
http://www.fictioncentral.net/hpforum/index.php?showforum=193
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_differences
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_pronunciation_differences

For the actors, I've noticed (for me anyway) it's much easier for me to affect the accent if I've been listening to it. So, try watching British movies or listen to Brits read audiobooks (Steven Fry reads the UK editions of Harry Potter.) Watch Gosford Park, Children of Men, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, This is Spinal Tap, or V for Vendetta (just block out Natalie Portman's voice; her accent is awful). Also, acting-wise, make sure that you actually talk to the person that you're directed to in the script. And I don't mean just looking at him. If the script says you're talking to Harry Potter, you ARE talking with Harry Potter. And he is talking with you. Also. this is a comedy. Try to add a little life into the characters. MOVE. Don't just sit there. Gesture, pace, walk, express. Don't overdo it, but add some life.

If you really want to get into to it, I highly recommend this book:

^^LMAO. laugh Yea, I think we'll pass on the Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels approach...

bgii- Thanx for the links and advice. peace

EDIT: Oh and I had to get this off my chest. My lighting and field professor didn't really explain things and when he did, it wasn't too well. He gave us a bunch of charts with numbers that didn't make any sense and wasn't clear. I didn't like that class so much, so I did my best just to pass it so I wouldn't have to take it again. I guess there's still a chance for me to get it down, but after that class I felt so discouraged. Thanx for the ecouragement and the helpful links again!

Now online is the JEDIZ AND JINXES Christmas Special! Now with 100% less wookies and singing. Watch it now, before we decide to destroy all copies we can find, and then forget it was ever made.

Part 1:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fktPDsby0Fo

Part 2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFM0Z-EyZ68

Description: Kenobi, Potter and a few 'magical' friends decide to spend the Holiday weekend in a secluded timeshare. After a talk with Harry, and in a fit of the holiday spirit, Kenobi gives everyone a most frightening Christmas gift: an ewok. What you see, isn't always what you get.

More screenshots coming soon.

(Note: this technically doesn't count as an actual episode, as it is a 'special'. Episode IV has been delayed, and is rescheduled for release in 2008).

That was really cool. I never really took to any of the other episodes, but this one was better. I give major props to the execution of the ewoks. Good movements and really good vocals. A pretty cool premise with a good payoff at the end. Quite enjoyable. Good work.

By the way, what was it Obi-Wan said when he "cast his spell"? Couldn't tell.
