I'm very curious how you went about getting your film listed on IMDB. In my experience, it's incredibly difficult with original short works - even if they've played festivals - and I would have imagined it would be nearly impossible for a fanfilm (in which you don't own the copyright to any of the characters, etc). Any secrets to getting listed?

Well there's not much of a trick to it. IMDB does have very strict criteria that projects must meet in order to list on their site. One thing that the Mandalorian Legacy has going for it is that it is not a short film; it's feature length. We also have a nice mix of up-and-coming film makers and established industry professionals involved in all facets of the production.

IMDB will also only accept projects listed as IN DEVELOPMENT or PRE-PRODUCTION stages through their professional site. If you have people of general interest involved in the project, it will also be easier for the IMDB review board to list your entry. The Mandalorian Legacy is luck enough to have Jeremy Bulloch (the original Boba Fett) and Jane Wiedlin (The Go-Go's Rhythm Guitarist and HUGE Star Wars fan) on board as part of our cast (to name a few of the guest star appearances) which will always help with a listing.

If you have a short film that has hit the festival rounds or has been released publicly, it may get rejected by IMDB at first. But if you can get interest from your local paper, news station and maybe some internet reviewers, you can mail reviews, email articles on the cast or director, and send in any other public exposure to your IMDB contact and they will continue to review and evaluate your title for eligibility. They're also really good about providing a reason why the title was rejected and what to do if you think it should still be included.

Good luck and if you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to help get you answers!

David

We should also stress that all merchandise in the online Store is original copyrighted material that is not owned by Lucasfilm, or infringes on any intellectual properties under the Lucasfilm Ltd umbrella, and is owned by the respective production companies. Which of course means it's not going to be as cool as Lucasfilm merchandise... but the sales will go toward the completion of our non-profit fanfilm.

Oh, I love legal !

David
