Funk-E posted: I walk to work. I bike if I need to go further. I have a little motorcycle that I use to get around further than that, it gets nearly 100 miles to the gallon. It's good to live in a small state.
What kind of work commute do you folks have?
Only a couple minutes by car, but long distance drives such as this past weekend's upstate New York to New Jersey and weekend filming in Ontario drive my gas expenses way up.

You could always do something like Boter's Tee-Theta. Just get a tripod, come up with a little story, frame yourself in the shot, hit record and go.
It's good practice until you get to the really good stuff, anyway.

Thanks Vapes. Check's in the mail.
...Well, kudos are gonna be sent by e-mail.
Nah, too lazy. I'll put 'em right here.

I still need someone to help me out with some effects. Anyone? You won't have to actually do any effects, just give advice. At the moment, I'm just trying to figure stuff out as I'm writing, so that I know what not to put into the script...

ShadowDuelist posted: Nate, I got a question for you. My PC is on its last legs, and I've decided for my next computer, I want a laptop. As much as the Mac OS bugs me, they make nice laptops. (Actually, much to my chagrin, I've discovered I enjoy a mac as a working environment. I've been seduced my all those hotkeys. The apple key can do anything. ) So, what should I get? My price range is so far undetermined (I plan to work over the summer to earn what I need, so its nor real high) and my only requirements are that it will last me through senor year and college, and that I can duel boot XP and play all my games. Got any recommendations?
MacBook Pro all the way The real difference between the pro the and MacBook is the graphics card. The little guys just have the integrated graphics card that mooches off your regular RAM, so it's not so good with the games (still can handle more production work than you would expect). The MacBook Pros are very beastly machines, and they were just rereleased with the entry-level machine already beating out mine, which was the mid-level MBP a year ago. They start at 2.4 GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo of course ), 2 GB of RAM (support up to 4 GB), 200 GB hard drive and a 256 MB nVidia GeForce 8600 graphics card. The other two feature the 512 MB version of the same card, which makes me drool and wonder how awesome the MBP will be when it comes time for me to buy a new one (I'm investing in a Mac Pro this year so it'll be awhile before my current one needs replacing).
All in all I think the MacBook Pro is the most versatile computer in the world. It's so compact and cleanly designed, very powerful, and you can run any OS you want, anyWHERE you want. It's pretty fun working in OS X at home, then packing it up and booting into Windows at my friend's house for some Command & Conquer LAN goodness, and heck, I can boot off a live CD of a Linux distribution every now and then (even though I have no use for it, just fun to show off sometimes ). The illuminated keyboard is neat too

Apple would do well to use something like that for an ad. It's got the music and style but also shows functionality.

Well the thing is, I want to kidna keep this project as much of a secret as I can until it's almost done. Which is why in the first post about it, I asked if anyone was willing to chat on messenger with me. I don't want everyone knowing what it is, and saying what effects that i need help with, will pretty much give it away.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if they did. After they had already shown a WIP of an ad for the iPod touch, they brought a British teen to Cupertino after he made his own little ad and posted it on YouTube, and they totally redid it.

Does anybody played D&D? I'm trying to organize a game over Skype, Aim/Ichat. You don't need dice, there are computer dice rollers on Wizards website.

Trailer for The X-Files: I Want To Believe
no jokes, that's the title... You'd think that with a high budget they'd be able to think up a title that's not completely stupid...

I play D&D, but I'm not interested in an online campaign at the moment. Sounds cool, though, I hope it goes well for you.

Or a trailer that makes the movie look completely boring.
On another note, if you guys are fans of visual effects breakdowns, I ran across this very cool link today...

Random, Icky Copyright Question: Is it legal for one of my characters to mention a brand name on-screen if nothing is shown of the brand name in question (IE, "I spent an hour at T.J. Maxx picking out that tie!")?
