There's nothing I can say that hasn't already (or won't soon) be said by far more articulate people...but Dark Knight was phenomenal.

Between that and the amazingness that is Dr. Horrible, it's a good weekend for superhero geekery.

You know, I'm not much into musicals (although Xanadu and Grease are frikkin' awesome) but I'm diggin' Dr Horrible. Thanks for the link doggans.

Hah! I'm actually having a showing of Brazil tomorrow evening!

That's one of those movies where I watch it and wonder, "How does this movie exist?"

Nah, we just like "breakdowns" wink

ANYHOO, on the topic of the Dark knight; pixel hates it, and Mike Seymour calls it "our times Godfather II", so this creates an interesting span of expectations wink

The trailers led me to believe it'd be similar to Batman Begins, but I'd say while the movie had the same look to it, the shooting and editing style were something else entirely. Two-Face was really well done, and while some might say he got "the Venom treatment", I do think sometimes in movies you just don't have time for every villain to have their own big story. I liked it a lot.
They didn't really show her too well, but during the scene w/ Gordon's family, I kept checking to see if the younger one was a red-headed girl. I do sort of hope they go down the sidekick route, but not for 3, maybe even 4 if they can keep this series going, which I bet you they can and will.
Joker was excellent, but that needs not be said. My friends and I agreed that the 'magic trick' was one of the best character entrances we've ever seen.

I really like that it was a "crime-drama", as Pixel put it. What took some getting used to was their method of showcasing the scenes and moving through the story, because while I can't place my finger on what's different, but this was a separate presentation than Batman Begins. Begins was the superhero movie, this one was something else.
They really caught me off-balance with it, but I love it. It was so well done. My next viewing will be in IMAX, but I'm not sure when... I'm gonna be kinda busy for several days.

Oh, and this is prolly gonna gonna get buried, but there's an Ender's Game graphic novel coming out. This makes me wonder just how far away that movie might be.

I don't see how opinions on movies can be "wrong". It's simply my preference in art forms. I never said it was a bad movie, as a matter of fact, it was very well done for what they were trying to do. They made a crime drama, not a superhero movie. I wanted a superhero movie, much in the spirit of Batman Begins, which was excellent. I didn't get that, hence my disappointment. I didn't care about any of the characters, so I didn't care if they died, which was the main point of much of the drama.

For instance, when Rachel and Harvey were both tied up with the oil barrels, I really didn't care which one, or if both were killed. Same with the people on the boats. Same with Gordon's son. At the end, I was basically like..."Damn Two-Face, shoot the kid all ready so this movie can be over and I can go home."

Do I need to reiterate my beatup ? That was sorta the point of the joke tongue

And whoa, I hit quote and forgot you had some HTR text in there. Didn't manage to read anything as I deleted stuff luckily. I wasn't able to make a midnight showing last night, which if I was at home would have been one of the highlights of my summer (going with all my friends, etc), but we should be going to an IMAX screening of it tonight, so I think that makes up for it grin

EDIT: Damn, IMAX will have to wait until tomorrow night, sold out during the night.

So, I was #3 camera for a TV show yesterday, which was a ******* blast. I cannot believe I haven't done that before. The director was great (and he kept a running "director's commentary" going in the headset the whole time which was hilarious) It's a serious rush for those of you who enjoy camerawork.

Well, yeah, I can imagine being a studio cameraman for Channel 4 News would be tedious work. I'm talking about an unscripted talk-show, or a sitcom with a three camera setup, not The News.
