I don't get it.
I mean, it's very stupid and all, but I fail to see how stupid = funny.

AdamBertocci posted: An ALTERNATE villain casting choice, which I just thought of today, would be Amy Adams as Poison Ivy.
You know, the beautiful redhead who won our hearts in "Junebug" (Oscar nominee!) and "Enchanted", who's made a career out of playing sweetie-pies who smile a lot.
Heh, I still remember her as the purse lady from the Office who sold Dwight a "Man Bag", and started dating Jim.
But her as a villain? That WOULD be interesting. The Penguin, on the other hand... now THERE'S a character that needs a good revamp. I'd also see potential for a Bane story here.

I love those uniforms Pixel Magic. Very classic and true to the original, yet a tad bit new.
As for next Batman villian, pre-Dark Knight viewing I wanted Two Face again and someone new, but after seeing the movie I think it would be the a more serious Riddler and Mr. Scarface. I would love to see a Mr. Freeze done like he was in "Heart of Ice" from Batman TAS, but I think Mr. Freeze is too fantastical for Nolan. Same for Poison Ivy and Killer Croc. And Talia Al Gul cannot work by herself as a villain in a movie, essentially because she's just her daddy but sexier and mortal.

Master_Comyn posted: As a villain? No.... But having Jennifer Connelly play her would be great. I've had a crush on her ever since Labyrinth.
I love you.
Master_Comyn posted: We've agreed that Robin shouldn't be involved, though I agree that if the Grayson story is played our correctly, we could see a more realistic version of Robin (i.e. no brightly colored costumes). But what about the other villians? Catwoman, Riddler, Poison Ivy, the Penguin, Clay Face, Mr. Freeze? I'd say the Penguin would be the most conceivable.
I really want to see Robin. He's always been one of my favorite DC characters, especially during the 1990s. I think that was the third one to fill the role tho, not Grayson, but w/e.
People have been naming off villains like Ivy, Freeze and Clayface, but I'd bet money you're not going to see those in a Nolan film. Actually, here's what I'm waiting for him to do.
He took Ras al Ghul in the first film, who prior to this, we all knew as the Lazarus-hogging immortal. However, in Begins, rather than showing him actually being immortal, we get the hint that it's not any sort of supernatural ability, rather than the next-in-line leader assuming a title.
They took something fantastical and made it a little more real.
So what I want them to do is take someone like Mr. Freeze, or any one of his "sci-fi villains", and turn them into a realistic approach to it. I don't really have any good ideas on how to do it, but it seems like that's what they're going for.
Especially after watching Gotham Knight. The first story especially is a good showcase for the power of legends.
They had a similar theme with the Joker, and spreading his own legend through varying stories of how he recieved his scars. You can just imagine people talking about him, "Well, I heard his father did it." "No, he did it! For his wife!"
I think that'd be an excellent way to go. I just want them to pick a villain for whom it'd be less subtle.
Beyond that, my guess would be Catwoman and/or Riddler. They seem to be the most mentioned right now. Working Talia in would be excellent, though Batman will also be running from the cops and citizens, while still trying to protect them, so that'll prolly take up a significant portion of the story. I wonder how he'll redeem himself.
And the Dick Grayson story for #4 or 5 would be pretty sweet, assuming they get that far. Maybe someday a Batgirl who is actually Barbara Gordon. I basically see this as turning out like the Star Trek movies, they'll prolly just keep making 'em, assuming they all go pretty well.

Robin was never a good character and I can't see him fitting into the Nolanverse at ALL.
Sorry. My opinion is law.

Whether you like him or not, he's a significant part of Batman's history, and I really think it's worth addressing.
Plus, I desperately want to see Nolan's take on it. The Animated Series got it right (though it was done through flashbacks), and Forever was pretty close, but they changed a number of the details (Grayson's age, Two-Face being the killer, etc.)...
Someday. Not for #3, but someday.
Oh, and Nate. Be proud.
I'm prolly going to have to be converting to Macs a bit fot this Chicago internship. I think I'm the only person there who doesn't own a Mac laptop.

Frist up: Hiroyuki Nakano, who directed Samurai Fiction, remade Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai. It stars Sonny Chiba and Nagase Masatoshi with several of Kurosawa’s original creative team on board in key support roles. The soundtrack is all Rolling Stones tunes. Even weirder is that it's only available to be seen on a special edition pachinko machine.

On the Nolanvese: It’s never easy to come up with a proper challenge for Batman; typically you either have someone who can challenge him physically – Killer Croc, Bane, etc – or challenge him mentally – Riddler, Joker etc. Ras al Ghul was the rare villain that could do both, but they already played that card in the first film and I think reviving him would cheapen the character. It’s possible to re-interpret many if not most of Batman’s cast into a ‘non fiction science fiction’ setting. Freeze doesn’t really need the power suit and freeze ray; simply the motivation to do anything – including experiment on humans he freezes – to save his popsicle wife is enough for me. The psychology to me was always more fascinating than the condition. I disagree with the idea of following too obvious a formula; i.e. in each movie Bats has to face two villains. One core threat and a series of henchmen, costumed or otherwise, seems fine to me.
For me a good story would be something like a combination of Dark Knight Returns and KnightFall. Batman’s no longer needed as Gotham is 90% cleaned up. In walks Bane, acting as a brutal vigilante taking over Batman’s turf. Bat’s returns to take him down but he was getting arrested on purpose; his real goal was to bust Arkham open from the inside. Bats tries to intervene, but it caught and forced to survive in a padded cell just like so many inmates he’s sent there. (make a visual nod to the opening of Begins). The irony here being that Bane doesn’t care about Bat’s secret identity, claiming the Wayne persona as ‘fake’.
Gotham PD can’t handle the crisis without declaring martial law and the Mayor/Governor gives a ‘shoot anyone in a mask’ order that includes Batman. Which of course makes you wonder if the city was worth saving to being with.
