DorkmanScott posted: Heh, I was actually annoyed by the flashbacks. Very "Hey, remember that movie you just watched? And are still watching? We assume you don't, so here's a refresher." I did remember, guys. I would've been okay without that.
I see what you are saying, but I don't think it was their intention to remind us. I think it was more his reflecting on how all the events of the past few days were leading up to his big moment. Also how he very much wanted to make his family proud of him, and to bring honor to his Racer family name. So he was reflecting on things his parents and others had said to him about how he was destined for greatness. At least, that's how I interpreted it.

Cats are quite simply the most awesome animals on this imperfect planet.
SHAMELESS PLUG TIME: If you've never seen my award-winning senior thesis film "Pat Gets a Cat", this would be a fine time to do so.

Okay, Speed Racer question.
In the first race, when Speed is "racing against his brother", what do you think? A projection onto the track for the in-movie audience, or Speed's precise memory of the ride displayed for us?

Speed's memory/imagination. Sparky's line "Do you know who you're racing?" is kind of a stupid question if everyone can see full well who it is. Also, Pops and Spritle wouldn't be glancing at their stopwatches the whole time if there was a projection to compare Speed's progress to.

Assuming my jolly little fan film makes it onto AtomFilms and becomes eligible for prizes etc., I will see about dragging myself out to SDCC. Not that I would go just to cross my fingers and hope for love from George, mind you. It's just that I've wanted to go for a long time but never had an excuse to justify the expense.
