Some suggestions from our creative mind;
Now, I already went for design 3, with some major modifications, but I thought I'd let everyone see the first three drafts, to get a general idea of how Eivind's style is, and if there's something else than our major b0t we could use. I also took into consideration the modelling/animation skills it would take to realise this, which is PART of why I exluded concept 2 as the main char. That, and the fact that it looks like a gorilla :P
These sketches are some weeks old now, but was only recently scanned, and I assume the latter iterations will be both quicker, and more detailed, since Eivind now has a design to go from, in stead of just doodling away.
Let us know what you think so far, at least

Eivind has a very capable hand, if those sketches are any indication.
I concur with option three, with modifications that should include making the b0t (that's coming dangerously close to a de-facto official name...  like Bee-Zero-Tee-Nine, aka "Bot") more of a cobbled-up hodge-podge of scavenged components. One credibility question our story raises is, "how come such a poor family can't sell the droid for the money they need?" We can address that somewhat by getting away from the shiny, expensive-looking, personal-servant style and having it be obsolete and apparently without intrisic value; e.g. left and right legs of different styles (which might give the it a unique, assymetrical walking/gait pattern), and the (suggested very early-on by I-don't-recall-whom) 'extra-hose' in the torso region. Plus wear & tear, corrosion, fluid stains & such.

I gave the artist some concepts to work out from, without actually having read the script on beforehand. I gave him the story outline, and some origin ideas for b0t. One isea was that b0t was made by an underground faction on Naboo, during the republic era, so he would have very "naboo" attributes and features, some underground modifications, and be very capable. However, as it would be over 30 years of age, some of it has rusted etc, giving it a very rough shell after all. I could also tell him to include some spare parts on it, so it'll be even more unique, but once the design is settled, but will be modelled, rigged, shaded, and good to go

Wow, you guys are really doing this, aren't you? I seen this idea more times than I care to remember, but nothing ever became of it. Without having to read through all the many pages, could I get an overall update? What kind of story are you doing?

Well...
I thought the original idea was to make the bot female, and that the family built it in wealthier times.
ALTHOUGH, having said that, there's no reason why a bot that looks like #2 couldn't be female, and it would certainly make it an interesting and original character. IF the folks have been poor for a while, then they would be in reduced circumstances when the droid needed repair, which would tally with it ending up looking like this.
What does everyone think of this?

Although the authors of Parts Three and Four tell me that what's posted here is not their final drafts, we do at least have preliminary drafts up for both Parts Three and Four.
This means that we are...
***ALMOST FREAKIN' DONE!!!!***
However, we are running into some issues both with the ending and with Part Four that we could use some extra eyes on. Plus, in order to try to tackle these things in a timely and orderly fashion, I have posted a sort of method-of-attack schedule for getting this done and turned in.
If you have time this weekend to take a look, input would be appreciated.
